I had a feeling my visit would not be great when I was pulling up to the restaurant and a server was standing next to the main door smoking a cigarette. When I say, "next to," I mean literally 3 feet away.
My son and I ordered a "build your own" pizza, with extra cheese, half pepperoni, and half bacon. Two of my friends ordered Jambalaya and had no issues. My other friend ordered shrimp scampi, only to be told that he couldn't order it because they were out. It was never explained what they were out of, but the Jambalaya had shrimp, so it wasn't shrimp. It took my friend a few minutes to decide a different entree to order, he finally decided on Chicken Alfredo.
Within five minutes, his Alfredo arrived at the table. None of the other food was ready. By the time he was done eating, the rest of our food arrived. My son and I started to dig into our pizza only to find out it was not the pizza we ordered, but instead was a BBQ-Chicken ranch pizza. This was not a mistake by the kitchen, this was literally what our server rang in on the check. Not sure how he mis-heard a build your own with extra cheese and two meat toppings and came away with the BBQ-Chicken ranch pizza, but he did.
I also placed an order to go for my wife. I ordered her a Crispy Jalapeno Burger with Fries, cooked medium well. I just arrived home, she got some sort of BBQ Burger, that was cooked barely medium. Keep in mind this was after a 20 minute drive home in which the burger would have time to "rest" and cook a littler further.
Jumping back to the experience at the restaurant, when I received my check I was being charged for the BBQ-Chicken ranch pizza $33.75, and the pizza the we actually ate, the build your own ($22.50) was taken off the bill. The burger that I ordered to go, was not on the bill. After waiting for ten minutes for our server to return, he still hadn't, I alerted another server about my check. I received a new bill with the burger added on, and nothing done about being charged for the wrong pizza. Finally, after another five minutes or so our original server came back to fix the bill.
Between myself and my friends we spent close to $100, and this was not money well spent. I'll likely not return to...
Read moreMy family and I go to BJs frequently. Yesterday may very well be our last day. The restaurant itself was dead. The front desk hostess was unpleasant and acted as if we were a bother to her day. There may have been 4 tables filled in the main area and when we told her we had 8, she asked if she could just put a table next to a booth. I asked if we could all sit together and she just walked away. We get to our table, the waitress was nice, but the order from drinks to food were never correct. My sister-in-law ordered tri tip, but the waitress put her in for prime rib. When my sister said that isn't what she ordered, they almost tried to place the dish in front of her like are you sure you do not want this? Without actually stating it. So my sister sat and waited another 30 minutes for her meal to be cooked. The steak came out rare. My brother and sister also asked for baked potatoes, which ones the plates came out, they were told then, there were no baked potatoes, so here is mashed potatoes. The waitress never asked if they wanted something else, or if they were okay with mashed potatoes. No one compensated her check or mine for the numerous errors. Sadly, I could go on about the extensive amount of errors throughout the night.
She had three other tables besides us. By the end of the night, the other tables were all annoyed by the lack of service and extended time. We didn't leave until almost 10:15pm. I had to go find her to ask for our check and give her my rewards number, which she did not use for our check. I felt awful for tipping her poorly, as I always want to give 20%, but I was taken back that my $172.00 check was completely incorrect and I did not feel like trying to find her again to fix it. After other guests saw me get up to find her, they to got up to get their check and pay.
We wasted $172.00 and 2.5 hours of our evening on a terrible experience. My husband and I dined at Fords Garage earlier that week, which had not a table open in the entire location. We were in and out within 40 minutes and not one error was made. Poor staff and management is killing BJs right now. I hope changes are made, but for now you lost a customer who probably spent $1k a year...
Read moreI've been to various BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse in the past but was never a regular customer until they opened their latest Cincinnati outlet in Rookwood about a year and a half ago. Now it has quickly become a go-to spot for my family.
Inside the restaurant is quite large and we have yet to encounter a wait for a table despite it often being crowded. It is fairly loud inside, but that's to be expected. And I love their large selection of draft beers.
I started with the wedge salad ($3.75) with iceberg, blue cheese, applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, red onions, and blue cheese dressing. Nothing too out of the ordinary here, though I don't recall having red onion on a wedge before. And there was plenty of it along with the other toppings that made it a great start to the meal.
My kids love their garlic knots. They were given complimentary ones to start the meal, and we had to order more for my son as he just couldn't get enough.
My wife really wanted to try their honey Sriracha Brussels Sprouts ($6.95). These were awesome! I highly recommend starting your meal with an order.
My dinner I went with the classic combo pizza ($12.50 for the 6") with pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, and seasoned tomatoes. The deep-dish pizza did not disappoint! I have ordered this same thing on the majority of our visits.
My wife enjoyed the EnLIGHTened barbacoa cauliflower pita tacos with seasonal bistro grains ($10.75). Two thick pita shells are filled with roasted cauliflower and red peppers, sweet corn, jack and cheddar cheese, onions, tomatoes, greek yogurt crema, and cilantro. BJ's has an entire section of EnLIGHTened meals that are low-calorie vegetarian options.
We look forward to dining in at BJ's again when the COVID-19...
