Increasingly rare find. A great handmade chocolate/candy/ice cream store that works on many levels.
QUALITY - It has become more difficult to find handmade chocolate stores. Many have closed. Furlongs competes well with all of them (ex: Hebert's) while retaining quality (ex: rich taste and freshness) and continuing to make candies on site (unlike many competitors now).
SELECTION - For a small shop, the selections are spot on. All the popular candies and a few size/configuration choices per candy type. Furlongs uses its space well and whittles down its options to the ones that really matter.
VALUE - The pricing is better than expected. You get what you pay for and more with a pound of chocolates. There also are many small candy portions that are inexpensive and perfect for trying. Staff can even wrap up the candy presents for you. The free wrapping choices are a great deal.
SERVICE - Some of the nicest, sometimes funny and certainly helpful staff we have found at any store. Maybe they hire carefully, train well and/or hopefully pay fairly. Somehow they end up with patient staff who deserve high praise.
TIP - Furlong's ice cream during the warm season is a hidden gem. It is way better than anything else on Rte. 1. It competes with Crescent Ridge and...
Read moreMy wife has celiac and is wheat free and gluten free, so i wanted to surprize her with some yogurt and Furlongs was highly recommended and they were RIGHT. I drove up in my blue Mazda Miata and I told her that if it was good as i was told, I would right a very nice comment about Furlongs Candies on Route ! in Norwood, across from the CarMax auto dealership. The owner waited on me and she was as polite as possible, and I had her make me up a small Coffee Toffee Yogurt treat with lots of Jimmies. She was very nice from start to finish. When I got home, I made sure that she had it after our lunch. My wife LOVED her treat and that made me feel very happy. There is no doubt about Furlong`s Candies and Ice Cream, because it is well worth the trip over there. The real proof was the big smile that my wife had on her face, as she was eating it. THAT SMILE...
Read moreA little bit like stepping back in time. Something about the inside of this place reminds me of the Betty Crocker cookbook that everyone's Mom used in the 60s and 70s. Old fashion candy store with one exception. The prices are clearly 2019. The candy is actually very good, maybe not great. They will gift wrap stuff for you for free. Service is very good as well. They have plenty of things ready to go, but you can also select. A variety of things from a case for a per pound price, including sugar free. Every town had a store similar to this 50 yearals ago but I am not sure how many are left. They also have ice cream windows in the warmer months. A good spot if you need a gift sure to please or a...
