We decided to give this place another shot on Saturday, 3/16/24 at 515pm. after a bad experience last year. This place is about an hour and 15 minutes from our home, so it's a decision for us to go here! We did not make the correct decision. We will never be back again. We did call ahead seating and we seated right away upon arriving, which was awesome. We were a table of 4 coming to celebrate my husband's birthday. We all ordered a tall root beer, which arrive warm, but maybe that's how it's severed none of us seem to mind. We also ordered the Pretzel and Cheese Fondue, and the bubbling shrimp on a stone (it didn't come on a stone it came on a plate). Appetizers came out very quickly and were very tasty. This was the best service we would receive and the best our meal would be. We then waited about 45 minutes for our salad/soups to come out. I ordered Chili and received Chicken Tortilla. Took our server 15 minutes to check on us to see how everything was. Advised that this was incorrect, she rolled her eyes and stated she would bring the chili right out. 2 other people at our table also asked for refills on the root beers, which again, they were met with more eye rolling. Another 35 minutes goes by and finally our food comes out! 1 Bacon cheeseburger and fries both cold, 1 dynamite chicken with so much dry, crunchy, cold rice, also most of the dish was cold, 1 Atlantic cold salmon also with dry, crunchy cold rice, the potatoes had been sitting for so long they had formed a skin layer on the top of them and my husband ordered steak and kielbasa, with cold mac and cheese, Fries (missing), button mushrooms (also missing). All of us were so hungry that at this point we just used my husband's stone to warm up our meat. The server came back and asked how everything was. I told her the flavor was good, but everything was stone cold. She said great and walked away! She finally brought the fries and mushrooms to the table, my husband said to her it's been so long since I ordered those, I literally forgot about them! She rolled her eyes! We had really wanted to get the birthday volcano dessert, but by this time it felt like we had moved in and the server just kept rolling her eyes at us. We just asked for to-go containers and our bills. 20 minutes later she brings those with no bill and asks how we would like our bill to be split? If you had questions, why would you have not asked 20 minutes ago when we asked for the bill!?!?! it took her 10 more minutes to get us the bill. By this point our table and the 2 table around us are all standing up trying to leave waiting on the server. SHE ACTUALLY SAID GREAT WHEN I SAID, "the flavor was good, but everything was stone cold!" GREAT!!! 2 horrible experiences 2x in a row. We will never be back. She didn't even get our bills right. We had to work it out with the other couple with us, we didn't want to stay to have her correct it! A dinner for 4 should not...
Read moreWouldn’t recommend at all. Deceiving reviews on google. Before we even talk about the idea of cooking your own food when going to a restaurant since that’s an opinion I’ll talk about facts.
We made a reservation for 9 people at 7:15 on a Saturday. We have been at a sporting event for my nephew for 12 hours and were so hungry by the time we got to dinner. Made sense to reserve a table so we would know we would be seated upon arrival. The hostess was rude when we arrived and informed us that a reservation doesn’t reserve you a table at that specific time because they do “priority” seating. Isn’t that what a reservation is? The restaurant “prioritizes” your party to be prepared for you. Nope. We had to sit at the bar for 45 minutes until 8:00 pm with three kids in our party. Got nasty looks for having kids taking up space at the bar 🤷🏻♂️ The Smokey atmosphere was a damper to the vibe. Better ventilation would be nice. Smelled like we working in the kitchen ourselves after we left. The staff was also very strange about the fact that we wanted the kitchen staff to cook our food, as if they expected us to want to do it ourselves. We didn’t go to a restaurant to cook our own food on hot stones. I understand that’s the novel concept for this place but some people may still just prefer to be paying a professional to do it for them, hence why they’re at a restaurant. That being said, the steaks we got that the “chef” cooked for us were all wrong. All cooked the same no matter what you asked for. Very dry. Very bland. Not very good cuts. Service was also terrible. Again, after 45 mins of waiting after we arrived for our reservation, we were sat in a dingy booth. We waited ten more minutes for a server to come take our drink orders. Multiple members of our party ordered salads and never received them. One of our younger members ordered a root beer and didn’t receive it until 3 times after the waitress checked on us. When we got our bill at the end, the waitress didn’t even come check on us again for about 15 minutes. My dad who was paying had to walk up to the bar to even ask for a pen to sign the receipt because she didn’t leave him with one in the first place! Terrible experience honestly. Very kitschy and a novel idea that seems unsanitary followed by a negative dark smoky atmosphere and the worst service of any restaurant we’ve been to while traveling. No reason to recommend unless you like to sit in dark smoky spaces and “cook” your own steak. I could do that at home on my grill at night...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Black Rock Bar and Grille, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment we stepped foot in the restaurant, we were greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance that set the stage for a memorable evening.
Our server, Sharee, deserves special recognition for her outstanding service. She went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Sharee was not only attentive and knowledgeable, but she also had a genuine passion for her work, making us feel like honored guests throughout the entire meal. Her friendly demeanor and attention to detail truly elevated our dining experience, and we couldn't have asked for a better server.
Now, let's talk about the food. The spinach and artichoke dip was absolutely divine. The creamy texture combined with the rich flavors of the spinach and artichoke created a harmonious blend that was simply irresistible. Every bite was a tantalizing explosion of taste, leaving us craving for more. It was the perfect appetizer to kickstart our evening.
For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the dynamite chicken was a revelation. The perfect amount of spiciness added a delightful kick without overwhelming the palate. The chicken itself was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, and the accompanying flavors complemented each other flawlessly. It was a dish that left a lasting impression and satisfied our craving for something with a little fiery flair.
Another standout dish was the rock chicken sandwich. It was a true masterpiece of flavors and textures. The chicken was succulent and packed with savory goodness, while the accompanying ingredients provided a well-rounded balance of tastes. From the crispy bacon to the tangy sauce and the fresh lettuce, each component worked harmoniously to create a culinary delight that was both satisfying and memorable.
Overall, our experience at Black Rock Bar and Grille was exceptional. Sharee's impeccable service, combined with the mouthwatering spinach and artichoke dip and the perfectly spicy dynamite chicken and rock chicken sandwich, made for a dining experience that we won't soon forget. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a memorable meal with outstanding service. We will definitely be returning to indulge in more of their delectable dishes...
