Upon arrival, the hostess greeted us and let us know that we order at the register and then the food will be brought out to our table. He pointed to a table across the room and told us we could sit there. Forewarning the restaurant is expensive. They charge 50 dollars for a pound of meat. Some items are only available by the pound. Others, like the lamb shank, you can purchase a half of pound. The meat is not smoked. It’s wrapped in foil and boiled in an oven. The main “chef” will ask you for your order. He may offer you a sample. I wasn’t initially impressed with the flavor of the beef however I’ve been wanting to try this place out for months so I decided to press on. I ordered a pound of beef ribs and a half pound of lamb shank. The guy puts on a fad like display when seasoning the meat. I think he is trying to channel salt-baes energy. He wildly sprinkles the salt/spice blend on the meat ( most of it lands on the plate) and then adds a dollop of honey. After wards there is the option to pile random sides onto the platter. Cooked garlic cloves, potatoes, uncooked cherry tomatoes, pickled bananas peppers, and hot peppers. The one pound of beef ribs and half pound of lamb shank came out to 78 dollars. My friend decided to just get a pound of beef ribs. Mind you, the meat is weighed, He took the bone out of my rib however he left the bone in hers. This can lead to inaccurate prices and measurements. once we got back to our table the sides were already served. The sides provided are single sized portions. We were told that the sides are unlimited. The sides included: cold corn salad, boxed mash potatoes, cucumber tomato salad, spring mixed salad with an acidic vinegar dressing, Mediterranean rice(dry and cold). In my opinion, the sides lacked flavor. All of them are served cold. We told them that we were not sharing sides and that we wanted to try all of the sides individually. we only received one portion of corn and mash. After trying it we didn’t ask for anything additional because it was not good. It all tasted like it is bulk buy premade food from costcos. They also dish out a ton of sauces. What we received was hot sauce, ranch, salsa, chimichurri, barbecue sauce, and a couple other sauces that my palette could not decipher. The sauces did not pair well with the meat and again they tasted store bought. I personally do not like the meat being seasoned after it is cooked. The seasoning barely made it on the meat. Also the meat was dry, had a jerky texture. All in all The food is expensive yet has a lack-luster taste. The sides are extremely disappointing and sub par. I will not be a...
Read moreWent on 9/8/24 for dinner; been wanting to try this place. The place was pretty steady, we were seated quickly. They had all cuts of meat available that day, except for beef shanks. (I have called on multiple occasions and they'd only have about 2 cuts of meat left around 6PM) My overall opinion is that, for the price you pay for dinner for two, you can go to Texas de Brazil, have an unlimited selection of meat and unlimited salad bar and sides for $55.00 per person. Or save yourself and go to a yemeni restaurant and get an authentic, tasty dinner you can be satisfied with. The food wasn't bad, all the meat tasted the same. While all dining is not about the money, at $127 +tip + a service fee (?) without dessert, for two people I just don't think it's worth it.
We purchased 2.5 Ilbs of meat: beef brisket, beef ribs, lamb neck. The sides they give you are roasted garlic, cherry tomatoes, roasted potatoes, a pickled pepper slaw of some sort, and sliced jalapenos and banana peppers. There were servings of rice, mashed potatoes and a variety of sauces waiting at our table. Soft drinks are included in the price of your meal.
The service overall was nice, friendly, mostly efficient. The guy behind the meat counter was generous with sample tastes for the cuts we asked for. Waitress was standard. While waiting to order our meats, we did notice staff eating behind the counter with their serving gloves on, so hopefully they changed their gloves before serving anyone else..
Atmosphere is lacking. It looks like the restaurant still needs some finishing or refinement. Not many changes from the previous restaurant that was there before. Feels at times like a hangout spot for the staff. (Chatting, on phones while serving, eating in customer view)
I like the concept of this place, and I was really looking forward to this restaurant and left a bit disappointed and still hungry. It's nice to have a halal option in Novi. I believe some improvements could be made to make this restaurant worth the price point. Like a proper salad bar or better options for sides (bread, soup, a proper salad) some refinement on the servers etiquette, music and decor would be a plus, and some signage at the meat counter with a selection of...

If you consider yourself a meat lover, Meat Moot in Novi is an absolute must-visit. This place has redefined the art of barbecue, delivering a gastronomic experience that leaves you yearning for more with every bite.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the lamb shank. Cooked to perfection, it was astonishingly tender, practically falling off the bone with the lightest touch. The flavor was rich and savory, each bite melting in the mouth like butter. The Beef Ribs and briskets were no less impressive. The Beef Ribs were meaty and succulent, with a smoky flavor that permeated the juicy flesh, while the brisket was beautifully marbled, offering a perfect balance of tenderness and flavor that simply cannot be beat.
Accompanying these exquisite cuts of meat were a selection of sauces that were nothing short of extraordinary. Each sauce complemented the meats perfectly, adding layers of flavor that enhanced rather than overwhelmed the natural taste of the meat. Whether you prefer a spicy kick or a tangy sweetness, there's a sauce to elevate your meal to new heights.
But Meat Moot isn’t just about the meat. The sides are equally praiseworthy. The salads were a refreshing counterpoint to the hearty meats, each one bursting with freshness and crisp, vibrant flavors. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth, a comfort food classic done right. And the Saffron Rice? An aromatic delight, perfectly cooked and infused with the delicate yet distinct flavor of saffron, providing a fragrant backdrop that paired wonderfully with the meats.
Meat Moot in Novi is a symphony of flavors and textures, offering an unforgettable dining experience. From the tenderness of the lamb shank to the delectable sauces and the fresh, vibrant sides, every element is crafted with care and precision. It’s a place where every bite tells a story, and that story...
