I came here using Cajun King as the comparison.
We ordered the shrimp tempura and kalua pork quesadillas for appetizers. My husband and I shared a Combo #1 (the one with snow crab) with garlic butter sauce and we had the mini malasadas with ice cream for dessert.
We ordered our appetizers and food at the same time. The combo came out quick, about 10 mins after we ordered! Our appetizers didn’t come yet but we decided to dig in anyways. It was only after the fact that we were given bibs, but I didn’t care. I came for the crab and I was getting my crab! No time to stop to put a bib on! About 20 mins after getting our crab our quesadillas came out.
For our Yelp event, we had some entertainment while we ate. I started to wonder where my tempura was. About 45 mins after I ordered my appetizer, I saw another server giving a tempura to the table next to ours. They sent it back and said they didn’t order it. I stopped the guy and said we were still waiting for ours. He had to go check and finally brought it back to our table.
The quesadilla was pretty bomb. My little 2 year old loved it. The kalua pork had a lot of flavor and there was a good amount of cheese. My mouth is actually watering just writing this review. YUM! By the time the tempura came, we had already been well into the combo so we weren’t as hungry. But it was still good. I couldn’t really tell the taste of it in between all the other seafood I had just been eating but the coating was perfect. Light and crispy.
Now heres what you really want to know… the Combo. So side by side, I think I prefer Cajun King. It seemed like the sauce was like margarine with garlic salt. At the other place, I can eat the sauce with my rice and be in heaven. It also seemed like there was way more crawfish in there, which sucked for me since I don’t really care for it. I definitely was not blown away by the seafood there.
Later they brought by some ice cream which we started to dig into and then like 10 mins later brought some mini malasadas to the other side of the table. Ooops. Wish they had told us that they were 2 desserts so we could have waited to eat the ice cream. Lame.
Bottom line, I would not return here. I heard similar stories from others that occurred at different times. A close friend of mine told me that they served her gray raw shrimp. When she told them about it, they didn’t offer her more cooked shrimp, they just gave her 5% off her bill. 5%?!?! Lame dude. Compared to the other seafood places, I would not waste...
Read moreI'd like to start by saying that I do not write this with ill intentions towards the business, and hope that they will take this review as constructive criticism to improve the quality of their food. This past Friday evening, I placed a phone order for a 20-piece order of butter garlic shrimp, 2 HALF pieces of corn on the cob, and about 1lb of the butter garlic snow crab legs. Upon pickup, the staff was friendly, and they helped me as fast as possible, although it was pretty busy. When I took my order home and opened it, the butter garlic sauce was all over the bag - poorly packaged, and there were also no napkins included. As for the food, as soon as I started peeling the shrimp, I could feel with my hands how dry and overcooked it was. It tasted like previously frozen cooked shrimp, which was cooked again and then thrown into the bag with the sauce. The half pieces of corn on the cob tasted exactly like the ones you buy from the market in the frozen section, and you get SIX for the price that they're selling TWO for. Lastly, the crab legs weren't too bad, but I was just over it at that point. I rarely write reviews, but I am extremely disappointed, and I had way better expectations of this place - being that they specialize in seafood, they should definitely uphold higher standards as to what they are selling customers ESPECIALLY at the HIGH prices they charge! My order's total was $60, and I was in shock once I...
Read moreI was really looking forward to trying Da Crawfish and Crab Shack, but unfortunately, the food was a huge letdown. I would give them 0 stars if I could! I ordered snow crab clusters and shrimp in garlic butter (spicy). The spice level was good, but there was no real flavor—just heat. It desperately needed proper seasoning. I asked for Old Bay, and they brought me some sweet brown seasoning that was definitely not Old Bay. Turns out, they make their own seasoning, and honestly, it’s not good.
Then came the biggest disappointment: they don’t have real butter—only margarine. I asked for butter to dip my crab legs, and they brought a bowl of margarine… and charged me $4.50 for it. I also ordered lemon and got half a lemon for $1.50. The corn and potatoes were clearly just boiled in plain water and then splashed with raw garlic and margarine. Everything was bland and unappetizing.
On top of that, it was extremely hot inside—not a single window, door, AC, or fan to provide relief. It made the whole experience even worse.
The only positives were that the crab legs were cooked properly, the interior was nice, and the staff was friendly and quick. But good service doesn’t make up for bad food, bad seasoning, and an uncomfortable dining environment.
If they switched to real butter and actual crab seasoning, this place could be great. Until then, I wouldn’t come back. Not...
