The portions aren't anything to rave about if you compare to other local restaurants. The flavor is also nothing to get excited over. The staff are a bit stiff and don't go out of their way to make you feel like your business is appreciated. I get the sense that they are just doing enough to get by and not in the name of evolving their service, let alone the quality of their food. I'd rather pay more to eat at Gomatei, because their flavor is quite delicious and worth the money. Ichi Ben not so much. Plus, they don't have a website. That, along with the other things I mentioned above, is a symptom of ownership that is not as serious as some competitors, non-chalant and more interested in appearance (their decor is decent but too bad it looks better than the food tastes) than substance, in my opinion. Read moreThe food is the star here. It's carefully prepared with high quality ingredients. The servings are beyond generous. You will be tempted to eat everything! I had the vegetable tempura and fried oyster combination lunch, served with miso soup and salad. Excellent all. Fried oysters are not easy to find on local Japanese restaurant menus; these were as tasty as those I've had in Japan. The vegetables in the tempura were carefully sliced and perfectly cooked. The tempura batter was light and not at all oily. We ordered a side of gyoza. They were plump and juicy with a nicely browned pan-fried base. The service was faultless and fast. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. Lots of things on the menu to explore on...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a solid place in Peal City to grab some ramen, Hoya Grill Ramen is where it’s at! I ordered a bunch of stuff, and honestly, everything was really good.
The tantan ramen had a nice kick to it, The hoya style fried rice was a standout, super flavorful and satisfying.
We also got gyoza and spring rolls, and both were crispy and delicious. The fried baby tako was a fun little treat, and the mapo tofu had just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. Plus, the tsukemono added a nice fresh crunch to the meal.
Overall, we had a great time and everything we tried was tasty! If you’re in the mood for some good eats, definitely check out Hoya...
