S7 ICY BUBBLE — Restaurant in Oʻahu

PLEASE READ I go here frequently. I love their taro boba smoothie. I just went today and it seems they changed their cups/ lids recently. The lid is plastic and has a plastic circle that covers the straw area that you have to punch through. I didn’t realize it until it was too late, but the plastic circle is punched into your drink when you put the straw in, it doesn’t stay attached to the lid. Que 5-10 down the road when I’m choking while driving in the car on a piece of plastic and can’t breathe. Super scary. What’s even scarier is I was passing the smoothie back and forth with my toddler in the back seat. Thank the Lord I was the one who drank it and not him!! After it happened, I called the store asap to let them know. I was very calm and polite on the phone - just wanted them to be aware so they could either let customers know to be cautious or, hopefully, replace the lids. The person on the phone just said, “Ok, thanks. Have a good day” and hung up. I didn’t expect anything from the phone call and genuinely just wanted them to be aware of what happened, but not even a “sorry bout it” or nothing lol. So bizarre. I decided to treat myself for my birthday today. I ordered the roll ice creams. I told the cashier I was treating myself for my birthday. She went to the back and came back with a beautiful box and gave it to me saying happy birthday! She said it’s a candle. I didn’t really understand but I thanked her. I then got my rolled ice creams which she packed in a really neat bag, then went home. When I ordered it, she told me that it needs to be eaten soon but I explained I live right behind them. She was worried that it would melt. I appreciate her concern. When I got home, the first thing I did was open the candle. It was such a beautiful candle. I felt so special! I was feeling so down because my husband sent divorce papers and a text that said happy birthday. This candle made my day totally turn around. As for the ice cream, I highly recommend it! It was so ono! I’m a diabetic but since it was a treat that I don’t often get, I ate the entire order! I’m also planning to go back! Look idk about you but I’ve had many boba places and this one I can order on Uber eats even until the evening. When Uber eats delivers it it’s always delivered in like a whole cooler that has their logo on it. It’s EXTRA but Woa it matters. I own Foldys Wash & Fold in Kailua and as a small business owner the small things matter. The detail things. And the things that would matter to a customer.
