CJ's Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in O’Fallon

We ate for the first time at Madison's cafe this week and we had a VERY positive experience. We were seated within seconds of walking in. There is ample seating so the wait time is very short. Their booths are very roomy and within seconds of sitting down we had water brought to our table. Their bread is wonder and their butter is incredible. You can tell that it is homemade as it is very light and fluffy and easy to spread. Their house salad is wonderful! It has a great combination of parmesan cheese, artichokes, and red peppers. It is a wonderful traditional italian salad. Their kids meals are reasonably priced and came out very quickly. I had the pasta sydney and it was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. I got the half size portion and it was more than enough food for one person. I highly recommend it. It was a wonderful dish. All of our food was served quickly, very warm and had great taste. Our picky eater children cleaned their plates. I can't really give any type of room for improvement because the experience was very good. Our waitress was very at attentiative and brought out drinks and extra bread before we even had a chance to ask. She was very on top of things. This cafe is certainly a hidden gem in O'Fallon and from the outside you wouldn't realize how nice of a place it is to eat. I would highly recommend it for a date night, family dinning or even a family event as they had a large room to accommodate parties. Although it has been several years. I always loved madisons. My family have became good friends with everyone there. After every ball game id play my grandfather pete and i would go there and eat. Every waiter, waitress, bartender would give me a hug and have a non alcoholic sherly temple ready for me. Id drink that while watching the cards play on tv. Ive made so many memories at this place. Because of your staff and how well they treated my family and plus the outstanding food i myself have gotten into the restraunt industry as a chef. You guys prooved anything is possible. I dont know if my good friend still works there god it has been ages but everytime wed come in hed always put a smile on my face. Hopefully yall are back open for guests on mothers day cause id like to stop by and say hi. Im not that little kid no more that would stop by after his games im now 26. And hopefully i can move back to ofallon from springfield and work as a chef. I miss you all and i highly recommend people eating at yout restraunt. I love the jalapeno poppers and mozz sticks. Best salad is the house and for apps id do toasted ravioli or the pizza bread. The cafe in jeff city is awesome as well. Again, thank you so much for everything...

This was the worst food that I've had in a long time. When my meal was brought to the table the server dropped it off and did not come back for 10 minutes. She then came to the table I told her this was not what I ordered.she took my food back. 10 minutes later my plate arrived. I had Beef Mudega. The server did not come back to make sure the food was okay. I had to get her attention to let her know that the white wine sauce was lumpy. I asked what that was and she said she didn't know. Once again the food was returned.I had prior engagements that I had to leave for and ask for the check as I was taking someone out for dinner. I was charged the complete price for the food I returned. When I ask for the manager she blamed it on the server being new and said she removed the steak. They were trying to charge me for the side salad that came complementary with the meal.I proceeded to tell her I did not eat very much of the salad because I wanted to eat my steak which I never got to. I then told her I was a Google guide and was going to leave her a review about this. She then took off the $7 charge for the side salad. Didn't apologize for the bad food but continue to blame it...
