I'm usually lenient with my reviews and am forgiving when it comes to service. However, my experience at Sweetgreen Oak Brook on July 3rd left me no choice but to voice my concerns.
I arrived just before closing and, unbeknownst to me, they had decided to close early for the holiday. Although there was a barely legible sign to this effect, it was not clearly communicated to the customers inside.
I stood in line for approximately 10 minutes, observing the staff hurriedly preparing to close. Throughout this time, no one informed me of the early closure. It was only when other customers walked in that an employee, Yaharie, informed them - and me, by extension - that the store was closing.
I felt that this lack of communication warranted speaking to the manager. Initially, I was told the manager, Christie, was on a break, which seemed unusual for closing time. After insisting, Christie did speak with me but was dismissive of my concerns. I didn't get the sense that any improvements would be made based on my feedback.
Additionally, I noticed that leftover ingredients were being consolidated for use the next day, which raised questions about the freshness of the food.
As I left, I casually informed new customers of the early closure, only to have Christie raise her voice at me for doing so.
Overall, this experience showed me that the location could benefit from better communication and customer service. Also, the food quality is questionable. I won't be returning to...
Read moreI love Sweetgreen whenever I can get it. Delicious, healthy food. However, I will NEVER order delivery from the Oak Brook location again. I ordered directly from their website. They delivered an incomplete order, and it's virtually impossible to contact them immediately. I ordered for an important lunch meeting with executives. When I called to request they send the rest of the order, I got an automated system that provided no option for speaking to a live person. The system directed me to the app or the website in order to message with "Support." Of course, you have to message with a bot before they allow you to message with an actual person. Once the real person came on, she told me all she could do was give me a credit. I asked her to please just have the correct food delivered to me ASAP. She said it was "impossible" and that it would be just as quick for me to go back on the website and re-order. At that point, I was done. There used to be a time when all you had to do is call the restaurant -- even at the height of a rush -- and request the right food be delivered. And then it was. ASAP. Many restaurants still do that. Sweetgreen should. Do yourself a favor and NEVER order delivery from them. If it ends up being wrong (which is forgivable) you will find yourself in customer service quicksand...
Read more9.13 updated review. Normally I only write if it's a positive experience & if it was truly awful with bad customer service to give the establishment an opportunity to rectify it. I ordered the Guacamole Greens salad to go. So I get home I have what looks like the bottom of the bag crumbs of the tortilla chips, the salad greens were huge hardly cut up , half an avocado dumped in there ? The cilantro dressing was tasteless, hardly any chicken. Did I mention that the place looked unkempt? There word part was that I called customer service , they texted me that someone would text me back to answer my call and NEVER followed up- twice a to just get them to rectify this mess of a salad & lack of quality for the price. I will not be going again- too many options out there to have to put up with terrible quality and service. Even if they were short staffed which it seemed like, they could have taken their time to fix the salad properly. It's too bad because my review below 7 months ago tells a different experience. Victor was super helpful - recommended the Harvest Bowl Salad and it was fresh, unique and satisfying. I love the airy modern decor & the beach lounge music was relaxing & for a cloudy Midwest day- it felt good. Can't wait to try their other...
