Service at the restaurant is not ready. We walked in the door, waited for instruction, attempted to move out of the way of an employee who was not looking out for us, and we got an rude "Excuse me", not a sorry "excuse me". We were already trying to get out of the employees way, one who was not going anywhere. I had thought she was headed right outside the entry door on the plaza side, but there was no outside service there.
Next, after waiting much time to order a drink, post the spiel on the menu and the chef, we ordered drinks upon the bartenders return. I ordered the a wine under sparkling on the menu, the Rose, Chateau La Nerthe, Cotes du Rhone, Las Cassagnes. The wine came flat, which I told the bartender. She then realized that the wine was flat and told me I ordered a Rose which should be flat. I asked, "why is the wine under sparking on the menu?", which it still is online at Crate & Barrel. She said that it was likely a menu mistake and insinuated that it was my error. The wine was poured into a Champagne flute, and I questioned her back why would she pour a flat rose into a Champagne flute, her toned changed. She explained that they were very busy and overwhelmed and that the restaurant had many kinks to work out, WHICH IT DOSE NEED SERVICE HELP. I replaced the my false order with a procesco which cost $11 per glass. I was still charged the $13 per glass for the false sparking rose.
Food looked great, but we quit here. We saw others at the bar tracking down food and drink orders on there own, going to the hostess stand.
Crate & Barrel needs some big time practice and hiring of professionals in the food industry before they think this can help their brand or even be a serviceable destination. Looks like they had plenty of staff, but not competent staff, including behind the scenes preparing the menu.
The food did look great, but service makes this a definitely avoidable destination until reports come...
Read moreI just went recently to treat my mother for her birthday. It was today actually, Sunday Nov 19. The food was okay but the service was extremely poor.
I asked that they prepare her a dessert and told them which to prepare because banana pudding is her favorite. I was informed the dessert would be on the house for the birthday and I was told my server would be informed.
It took us about ten minutes for our server to even bring us water. And then another five minutes before he found our way back to our table to order food. It took so long the table next to us had to tell THEIR server that we had been waiting a long time.
Our meals came out. Nothing was hot but the taste was good.
Que another 15 minutes before our someone even came back to check on us. Note: it wasn't our server. Our server actually never came to check on us. We were finished with the meal and pretty ready to leave at that point. Never got the promised birthday dessert. Not surprising since our server treated us with such carelessness. It really put a stain on my mother's birthday dinner. After I paid, I went to let the restaurant know how poor the service was and to say that it was really disappointing not to even have the dessert I had prearranged for show up, the person smirked, laughed and said "ok." No apology nothing. It was shockingly ill-mannered, impolite and startlingly unpleasant.
I would totally skip it. The service was so poor and the food is not good enough to endure the rudeness and...
Read moreVisited The Table the first time this weekend and it was a truly enjoyable experience. They do not have a very extensive menu, however what they do have is done well. I ordered the C&B salad with charred salmon and my friend had the C&B burger with waffle fries. The salad was tasty and the salmon was cooked to perfection, however it could have used a little more salad dressing overall. The beef dumplings were crispy and flavorful and everything came out fresh, hot and fast! My espresso martini was ok, however I would probably try something else next time. My friend enjoyed her spicy guava margarita for sure! I probably wouldn’t make a trip to the mall just to dine here, but if you’re shopping at oak brook mall and want something quick and tasty, it’s the perfect spot! They also have a rooftop terrace section you can sit at upstairs, HOWEVER, it is not manned by a server, you order via QR code and they just bring it up. Hard to get suggestions or special request without interacting with someone. Super cute space which would be a hit if they can work in staffing it like the main floor. Plus the dishes that were set out in advance upstairs had gotten a little dusty so we didn’t stay upstairs. This wasn’t a problem downstairs as they don’t sit the dishes...
