China Harbor Inc — Restaurant in Oak Harbor

In short: BAD SERVICE, and VERY POOR VALUE FOR YOUR DOLLAR.

In depth: My family has visited this restaurant on one other occasion in the past, and I do not recall at all having the issues we had this time around. With a family member in town, and at my daughters request, we had Chinese food for dinner. This place was one of only a handful of sit-down, non buffet style Chinese food restaurants in the area, and it was closest, so we went there. We were pleasantly greeted and seated.

Our guest was my father, whom he and I normally order the same exact thing, which is a Pu Pu platter for two and a order of house fried rice. I warned him that the portion sizes out West are ridiculously smaller to what is served back in and around the Boston area in regards to Pu Pu Platters, so we ordered three (3) Pu Pu Platters for two and a plate of rice.

When the Pu Pu Platter arrived, it only had two fried shrimps on the platter. Two, for an order of three Pu Pu for Two. I'm not the worlds smartest guy, but I am quiet certain that this was a mistake. I called on our waitress, who seemed perplexed by this, whom then got the manager. I asked her how many shrimp was supposed to be on the platter, because we only received two shrimp for an order of three Pu Pu Platters for two? She responded with some sort of a "yes, I will get you more shrimp". In case you are not following the issue at hand, for an order of one Pu Pu Platter for two, I would expect two items of each appetizer, which I would assume is standard. Naturally, I expected six shrimp, as there was six of every other item on this Pu Pu except for the shrimp.

The waitress brought out one (1) shrimp. I questioned her again, so one shrimp per Pu Pu Platter for two? She responded with a "yes, would you like to see the manager again?" To this I said, "Yes, please."

The manager confirmed, this was correct. I am 100% certain that in my past visit that there were two shrimp on the Pu Pu for Two.

The rice came out around this time as well. The portion size was about 1 cup of rice. Basically, a normal size of rice for about 1 person, not the 2-4 cups of rice that it seems to be the standard at every other Chinese restaurant that I have frequented.

I was clearly irritated at this point, and adding insult to injury, our server could not count dinner plates and was confused about the request (there were no plates on the table, and the food was out there). She brought back four plates for the five of us.

I realize that there are not many choices for Chinese food in the area, but consider any other location in the area before you go here. The food portion sizes are ridiculously small for the price, the staff is incompetent, and lastly, the seats are duct taped together and the tables are half broken. In the interest of time and to focus on the two main issues, I didn't get into the condition of the place.

I will not only not go back to this location, but I can not in good faith recommend anyone to try this restaurant out. If no stars was an option, that would be my rating. Never again will I set foot into this establishment, and frankly, if the manager is reading this, do not bother with a coupon or free meal, it would not be worth the cost of gas to drive over there. You guys are ripping people off, and you should...

I have ordered delivery from here several times, pretty standard, nothing bad, but nothing to write home (or google) about. The LAST time I ordered this weekend I did not receive utensils as I had the last 5 or 6 times, we were packing up our house to move so we didn't have any so I called back to get some forks... this place is fine until you have a problem.

Me: I didn't get any forks, can you send some CH: You didn't ask for them. Me: I never asked before. CH: You must be thinking of other place. Me: I'm not, can I just get some sent so my family can eat our food? CH: Oh, we have new driver... why you not ask for forks? Me: Like I said, I never had to ask before, maybe your old driver just gave everybody forks, I don't really care though, can I get some sent? CH: You no haaave? Me: No I don't, I'm in the process of moving. CH: We very busy tonight... um... you no have any? Me: I already told you I don't... Look if you don't send me some utensils I am calling my credit card and refuting the charge and you are not getting paid the money because you sold me food that my family and I are not able to eat, because you wont just send me some forks.

Somewhere in there she asked me a third time "I no have" forks, I can't remember as I was starting to see red and my kids were wanting to eat their noodles. Once I asked for utensils there shouldn't have even been a first time asking me if I had any. That is not how you treat a customer who is paying you their hard earned money. I seriously doubt I will ever eat there again just based on that. If you eat here the food will probably be decent, I just hope you don't have any problems with it, reading other reviews these experiences seem...

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE! Im from the island and have never have such bad service and food for so much money (plus tip) that i have spent. While calling to place our order we were put on hold 3 times because the girl had no idea what to do while taking an order down. We were patient and nice the entire time. She told us our total ($66) and to come and park outside in 35-45 minutes. While going to pick it up (30 minutes later) we got a call saying our food had been done waiting for a while now. We had gotten there and called and still sat in the parkinglot for 15 minutes after talking to them, one other car was in the parkinglot. When the women came out with our food we decided to change the amount of our tip because of the terrible service we had already gotten. She refused the give us our food until we kept it to what we told her on the phone while we ordered. When we got it we checked all the bags (like we do everywhere) to make sure we had everything. While doing this she had came out and told us to leave. We came home and ate and realized we had 2 things that were even decent. We didnt eat most our food and my main plate made me vomit. We had called to see if we could get refunds for anything we didnt eat or some kind of help from them. While on the called the owner was very rude, and was telling us it was our problem! I have never EVER had such bad time eating from a family owned company on our little island.
