Purple Moon — Local services in Oak Harbor

Came to Whidbey on a Sunday to explore and met many kind people! It's a beautiful island & a very friendly place, sadly I cannot say the same about my experience in Purple Moon. I love handcrafted items and gemstones so the store was right up my alley, unfortunately the woman working there today (3/14/21 @3:45pm) made it a less than relaxing experience and created a hostile environment with her horrible attitude. Every few minutes although she was on the opposite end of the store I would hear her sigh loudly, making it uncomfortable to shop as I felt like my perusing was a nuisance. When it came time for me to decide between two large palm stones I asked for her opinion twice and both times she denied me saying she wouldn't answer that question as it's personal despite me asking for her "personal" opinion. The straw that broke the camel's back for me and prevented me from spending the fifty dollars worth of minerals I had in my hands was when she stomped over after I had unzipped my purse to get my cell phone flash light to see the asterism on a few of their star rubies and rudely asked me if I needed any help in a demeanor and tone that assumed I was stealing. I can deal with someone who's having a bad day but I cannot support a shop who's only worker is deliberately displaying her dismay for my presence for zero reasons. It looks like a lovely shop and I'm saddened by this experience. The irony of such a cheery store inhabited by someone who isn't is not lost on me though. Hopefully others get her on...

Big shout out to the employee who was super rude to us when we came in with our ice cream cups. We wanted to shop around and I had already decided to buy a couple things when we were rudely kicked out for having ice cream. Shouting “UM THERES NO ICE CREAM ALLOWED IN HERE” at us seemed aggressive. I think it would’ve been better handled with a “hey, unfortunately we don’t allow outside food or drinks in our shop but please feel free to come back once your finished” would’ve been a much better approach. There’s not a sign posted. The employee wasn’t in the least bit friendly and their tone of voice was very upsetting. I felt like I was being chastised publicly for a rule I wasn’t aware of.
