There are some really good things on the menu, and then there are things that just don't really make sense. I've had a very large variety of things from this place and some things are great while others fall short.
The prices are too high for most of the items and their quality. I think if they were to redo their menu, they would really have better business. The pasta and burgers really don't make a lot of sense to have, and I feel like that takes away from the other very good dishes they offer.
The salads are terrible. 20$ for iceberg lettuce with olives and a sprinkle of tomatoes? It should have better quality lettuce, some cilantro and red onion at the very least. It's worth 10$ at the most. I wish they had different types of salads as well, they really limit themselves with only one.
Their door dash prices are deceptive, in that they charge extra for just choosing their mandatory options. +.90 cents to choose how you want the eggs cooked, .09 cents to select which side you want. It adds unnecessary cost.
I absolutely love the people here. They are friendly and the service is phenomenal. They are why I keep coming back. I want to see this restaurant thrive and I hope that if they can improve on their menu they could be the...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place to eat...we walked in and Jesus met us at the door and greeted my mom by name and introduced himself to me. After we sat, the owner Silvia came by and said hello and recommended everything on the Mexican menu that included all the items created by her. (The entire menu is a mix of traditional grill options with a separate Mexican menu). I had a cup of the pazole and the carne asada. My mom had three beef tacos. While we were waiting, Jose (the namesake) came by to say hello. Great people...authentically and sincerely nice people. I saw the staff repeatedly and warmly greet people as they came and went. Now, the food...the pork in the pazole was so lean and tender, and the flavor was amazing. The carne asada was beautiful with fluffy, homemade corn tortillas. The beef tacos equally good. The beans...way better than the avearge refried beans. My gawsh...do yourself and favor and eat here. One other small piece of trivia for the tourist...the owners only just recently opened this place....previously worked at another Mexican restaurant until it closed...the owners here are the small business entrepeneuers that keeps...
Read moreOkay, so, this is one of those reviews that l wish l wasn’t leaving, but l am, for a particular reason. I’ll get to that shortly. First of all- the good stuff. The place is spotless, and the decor and lighting are really nice. Very good vibe- music not too loud, and service was prompt and polite. A weeknight during the winter, so it was pretty quiet. I ordered chicken taquitos (they’re called flautas elsewhere)- and they were fresh & tasty. So why 3 stars? I made the mistake of assuming that a family joint with one location in the middle of Puget Sound would NEVER serve CANNED clam chowder- but they did. Listen, on principle l NEVER read owner’s replies to my reviews- so l won’t see it if there is one- but they need to take the L on this one- cuz this “chowder” consisted of corn starch, canned clam juice, corn starch, canned diced clams, corn starch, and salt & pepper, served at slightly above room temperature. Inferior to Campbell’s Chunky. I realize how l’m coming across here (like a dik)- but either take it off the menu or make a chowder worthy of an island with ten times more clams...
