Ruby's Coffeehouse & Eatery — Restaurant in Oak Island

We have been here for a week and have eaten here everyday and enjoyed it each time! Our last day on our way home we decided to stop again and grab a quick breakfast and some coffees. We did our pickup order as we have every morning prior and went in to stand and wait at the pickup sign. Our last few mornings have been so pleasant with the customer service but this morning there was a blonde girl wearing a hat and blue shirt with white jeans and she was so incredibly rude. She asked me and my friend “are you staring because I’m pretty or do you need something?” And I said “no we have a pickup order” and she responded “so are you just going to stand there or are you going to tell someone”.

Considering we have never had to tell anyone, we just come to the pickup spot and wait for our order, this was so nasty of her to act like that. If that has been our first time here we wouldn’t have come back. If you’re reading this, no you’re not pretty, pretty girls don’t act like that. Do better.

After seeing several people on the pier with their coffees that looked delicious i had to try it. I also noticed they had some food items so I got the avocado; pimento cheese and bacon toast and it was soo good even my 9 yr.old daughter wanted to try it and loved it and made me go back the next day and get her her own. It also came with a side of blueberries and the next time blueberries and strawberries so be careful if you are allergic to them. On to the coffee. I'm sorry I really wanted to be like it was great but maybe it was my choices. The first one tasted like any other basic Carmel white chocolate or whatever it was but the next one was lavender and honey and I really love lavender so when I want lavender I want to be able to taste it and I couldn't really taste the lavender all that much. The girsl were really super nice and maybe some of the other drinks were better so please don't pass this place up based on my review because I will definitely try it again...

After reading all the good reviews, we decided try Ruby's. We love our bagels so we decided to set aside one morning on our visit to Oak Island to come to Ruby's. If I could given a zero for customer service. I asked what kind of bagels were offered. I was told to look at menu several times.. Just a simple answer was plain, or what varieties were offered. Since we were given two butters each..it wasn't enough for us. I went to the counter to ask for two more butter each.. the person behind the counter said very sarcastic two more butters each.. she than told me she had no more butter left.. gave us one more each..didn't believe that at all.. so we proceeded to eat the rest of our bagel pretty dry. We noticed that the locals were treated nicer. We could tell they were locals by the conversations that were being had with front of the house person. Won't be back... Customer Service is key.. whether you are a local or visiting the island. Bad...
