I along with my wife, 18 month old daughter, brother and senior citizen (handicap father) arrived at the Denny’s at Oak Park, IL on February 24 at around 12:50 PM. When we arrived the sign said please wait to be seated. We were patiently waiting next to the claw machine by the six foot distance sticker. My wife went to the bathroom to clean up our daughter. The person behind the counter was helping (more berating) a different costumer who was paying for their meal. The employee behind the counter told us in a loud and aggressive tone of voice to move to the right. We moved to the right and continued to wait. A minute later she again yells and tells us to sit at the booth without specifying what booth. The sign said wait to be seated not let me yell at you and generally point in the area of a booth you are supposed to go. She did not even offer us any other seating choices such as a table (many were available) , knowing that we have baby and a handicapped individual and a booth would not be practical.
I figured that she must have had a difficult costumer the moment before so she must not have been able to show us to the seat as she was still dealing with them. I asked her if our party could have a high chair for my daughter after my wife comes back from the bathroom. She rudely and loudly, speaking over the other costumers (loud enough where the whole store could hear) says we don’t have high chairs only booster seats and my daughter can’t be blocking the aisle. Then to belittle me in front of others, she says how many of you are there anyway. I said four of us and a baby. Before I could even finish my sentence she cuts me off loudly and in front of others in an attempt to embarrass me, to show that I can’t add, and says “four plus a baby is five not four, we are only doing parties of four.” She was so eager and with a depraved heart to embarrass me that had she listened, she would have known that my father and brother were not going to be sitting with us. We wanted to request two tables, my father being handicap would have been unable to sit at a booth for longer than a few minutes and he needs a chair.
I don't know how a place such as this has such rude staff. The whole place appears to be run terrible. I don't know how they treat...
Read moreIt was a Sunday morning and my sister-in-law’s birthday so we decided to come here to eat as a party of seven. When we arrived the woman by the name of Trudy decided to let us know that they were not able to sit us because the maximum capacity was a party of six for which we understood and we asked her if we can have two separate tables for which they were not able to do because we were one family. We let her know that we were able to pay two separate bills as long as we were able to sit closer to each other for which she Continue to say that this was policy. There was no indication anywhere in the doors or even on the website stating that we were not able to do two separate bills or two separate parties. We even then decided to continue to stay but she was going to seat us on separate parts of the restaurant for which we Question the reason why and she said that If we claimed that we were separate families then it didn’t matter where we were going to be sitting. The restaurant was not As busy as they claimed. And we even let her know that we were in celebration of my sister’s birthday but she continuously said that we claimed to be separate families and she would sit us on separate parts of the restaurant. It was an uncomfortable situation to be in especially since we drove far in order to eat at this restaurant. Trudy was a very arrogant woman that should not be employed in any customer service facility if she does not know how to treat them or Deal with situations. This woman was the manager and she also allowed The other employees to be talking amongst themselves about the situation which made it completely...

As you exit I-290 and make your way into this charming suburb of Chicago known for its historic homes and architecture, you'll spot the bright green sign beckoning you to stop in for a classic Grand Slam breakfast or lunch combo.
Stepping inside transports you to a nostalgic world of laminate booths, neon lights and the strong aromas of freshly brewed coffee and just off the grill breakfast meats. It's always busy here but the friendly waitstaff ensure a quick turnover of tables. Opt for a booth along the street-facing windows where you can gaze out at the colorful Victorian buildings that line Oak Park's main thoroughfare.
The menu is exactly what you'd expect from Denny's- stacked high with pancakes, omelettes, sandwiches and burgers alongside specials showcasing their potatoes. Portions are huge so be sure to bring an appetite! Coffee refills are bountiful. We enjoyed an extreme skillets packed with sausage, potatoes, peppers and onions plus two classic Grand Slam plates that left us stuffed. Prices are reasonable for the quantity served.
