Do not order delivery from them. I ordered from their website and never received the food. The person who took my order was someone who told me their name was “Ann”. I told her my food was never delivered, even though I ordered from their website. She told me I had to contact Grubhub since they were the third party used for delivery. How is that my problem? Anyways, she’s clearly wasting my time bc she’s too lazy to help the customer. I call Grubhub and tell them what happened. Their rep told me that they will contact their store to tell them I want the order replaced or if I want a refund. I tell her yes, I’d love the food but I would love it now than later. She puts me on hold and tells me that she spoke to the store and told them to remake and redeliver my order. Afterwards, I call Penny’s to make sure they get the order and she told me that they couldn’t make the order until GrubHub send it to them. That makes no sense at all when I originally placed the order through PENNY’S website. I tell her at this point I need to speak with the manager. She puts me on hold for 10 minutes then hangs up. I call GrubHub and tell them I need a refund now. The GrubHub rep called Penny’s and then told me that after telling them they needed to refund me that they get hung up, too. I call Penny’s and “Ann” said they never did that. Penny’s has disgraceful and dishonest people working for them to take orders and dealing with customers. This was the worst food delivery experience I had to deal with. Then I finally got a call from Penny’s saying they have refunded my money back to my credit card, but don’t know how long it will take to process. Today my bank notified me that they never posted a refund. They only took the money out of my account. I can upload my call logs and bank details, if necessary. This location is such a joke and should not...
Read moreI used to really like this chain but over the years the quality and flavor of the food has drastically changed for the worst. The staff is always very friendly no matter what location you visit but the food is not what it used to be.
Don't get me wrong, I think that anyone from any ethnicity can learn to cook food from another culture, but nothing beats food cooked by a person who grew up eating and cooking it. For example, I don't go to Taco Bell when I want Mexican food. I go to actual Mexican restaurants owned and ran by Mexicans. That's what I expect from Penny's. They used to be owned and operated by their own kind, now every location is owned and/or ran by people of other ethnicities and the food just doesn't taste the same. It's still good, but unfortunately no longer one of my favorite 'go to' restaurants. My favorite dish was the Hot Pepper Noodle and anything else I have ever tried was always great making it harder for me to decide what to order every time I went back. Now sometimes I just rather order from my local Chinese restaurant up the street and have it delivered. You're almost not even worth the 5min ride down the street because you don't deliver to my area...
What happened Penny's? Where did the quality go? Smh please go back to how you used...
Read moreWell last I went to Penny's noodles shop was so long ago when they used to be in Wicker Park which became another decent Asian fusion restaurant called Urban Belly but not as good as Penny Noodles. I was on a budget again and wanted to try something different in Oak Park, IL. I started with Thai Iced tea and now wanted to eat pork lard bar and thick pan fried noodle dish. I had forgotten that this was a Thai restaurant but nevertheless I love Thai cuisine. Was not expensive. $9 for pork lard nar and $3.50 I think for Thai Iced Tea which was very unique ly sweet compared to other Thai Iced teas I've had I think this was the best one! About to eat there lard nar which is also unique delicious because the pan fried noodles they use is like chewing in a Hallow crunchy, toasty noodle than your traditional lard nar that doesn't taste that way. It is a unique experience that I forgotten but had now remembered why I like coming here before they left Chicago wicker Park to move out to Oak Park Illinois. The lard nar noodles is more of a preference some people might not like the toasty noodles textured but I like it. I would suggest people to come try Penny's noodles if they're...
