Café Osceola another 5-star buffet experience
There is a place I need to share with those who care about food beyond compare.. This special place with perfect taste, many know as Café O, which is Located within the hospitable walls known as Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando.
During the past seven years my wife and I have been privileged on hundreds of occasions to partake in one of the many fine restaurants located within one of Orlando’s greatest places to stay and eat. The evening of October 18, 2019 was no exception as Café Osceola was open for their spectacular dinner buffet. (By the way, their daily breakfast buffet is certainly one of the finest available in Orlando)
Part of last night’s incredible choices on the buffet included the tastiest Prime Rib I have ever indulged in. It was seasoned to perfection with rosemary-thyme-Italian seasoning-oregano and more, by chef Worlyns, one of the finest chefs within the world of Rosen Hotels. Also available was garlic mashed potatoes, roasted tomatoes, specially seasoned broccolini, spinach polenta, scrumptious butternut squash, grilled skirt steak with fabulous bourbon glaze, grilled lemon caper chicken, pork mushroom with sauce, sweet potatoe tots, blackened grouper. Also included was a magnificent selection of deserts that included, but not limited to, pecan pie, chocolate dome, specialty chocolate cake, and various other cakes, puddings, etc. The fruit selections included strawberry’s, blueberries, grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, and several others. There was an array of cheeses and meats and breads, the salad selections and fixings with a vast array of dressings would please anyone’s appetite. This is a buffet like no other. A place where you can have your cake and eat it to, and so fresh and delicious that it could change your life. Don’t let your journey in life go without this memorable adventure. Read moreMy husband and I have been going here for years at Thanksgiving and this year was extremely disappointing. The food and the experience has gone down slowly over the past couple of years. And this year was by far the worst yet.
At first we thought it was because of Covid and they needed to get back into the swing of things, but sadly we were wrong. There was nothing that was edible. It is now like eating bad cafeteria food. What was more surprising is that they started running out of food even with a couple hours worth of seating times left. Which is surprising since what dishes they had available looked like slop.
The restaurant was also redesigned, and the new setup was not thought out very well. It was obvious they were looking to increase seating capacity, but it has caused for the flow to access the food to become very backed up. You wait in really long lines to get to the serving stations, and are lucky to find anything worth eating.
I was also surprised that while attempting to get food the restaurant staff would push you out of the way without saying a word. I respect that they have work to do, but there are more professional or polite ways to be with guests.
We had a reservation for next month at another restaurant in the hotel but the food was so bad we canceled the reservation before we left. We will definitely be looking for other options around town for the future.
Another note: A change that they made to the holiday dining experience was that you use to be able to take the flowers home at the end of your meal that were on your table. It was something that added to the day and made it a little more special. As a regular at the restaurant, it was kind of like a holiday tradition.

Read moreMy husband and I enjoy celebrating Christmas day dining at Café Osceola. The buffet offers plenty of delicious choices from entrée to delectable desserts. There is a large Salad Bar offering not only standard salad additions but includes specialty and exotic combination dishes: Orzo Pasta Salad, Roasted Beet, Baby Spinach salad, to name my favs and only a few). There is station that tables International and Domestic cheeses, Antipasto, Bruschetta Bar and Fresh Fruits. A Dim Sum table offers excellent Pan-Fried Pork Dumpling and Peking Pork Belly Boa with BBQ Hoisin Sauce. The Peking Pork was over the top delicious! There's a Seafood Station, a huge bowl of Paella Valencia with jumbo shrimp and enormous meaty scallops, mussels and chicken over rice. Required a second visit! There is a Make Your Own Pasta Station, Waffle Station and Omelet, Pancakes and Eggs Benedict. My husband loves the choices of different sauces for the pastas and especially loved the Eggs Benedict. For entrees the Prime Rib was so tender it could be cut with a fork. I absolutely loved the House-Made Porchetta and the Garlic, Parsley and Raisin Crusted Baked Cod. Roast Turkey with all the fixings (mashed potatoes and buttered corn and carrots) was very moist. Finally, desserts offered breakfast pastries, individual pie and cake slices, mini cupcakes, cheesecake and so much more were available. Mimosa or champagne was included.
