I came here on a Sunday night. I ordered the lima guacamole (starter) and carne asada tacos (main). My server was Brenda. The place wasn't busy and I was seated immediately. The guac was decent but not made fresh in front of you as advertised. They use a pre-made scoop and just add a few prechopped ingredients & mix it around. That's not even my main gripe. It's the tacos (resulting food poisoning) and poor service from Brenda that did it for me. My tacos arrived as soon as they "made" my guac, which defeats the point of a starter. A little annoying, but I pivoted straight to the tacos. I took two quick bites (I was starving) and was met with swift disappointment. The tacos were tasty, but lukewarm at best. Same for the rice & beans. I tried to get Brenda's attention, but she never looked or stopped by my table, despite walking by it multiple times (she was like this the whole evening). I couldn't leave my stuff unattended to go inside & get someone. After 15mins, the hostess happened to walk by, and I was able to flag her down. I asked if my food could be reheated. I was going to pull the tortillas so they wouldn't get chewy. The hostess told me that the tortillas are what heats up the taco meat. She then speaks to Brenda (in Spanish) and Brenda leaves without taking my plate. Brenda returns 5mins later with a whole new order of tacos. They still weren't anywhere close to hot, but were slightly better than my original tacos. I was so hungry that I ate most of it. I ended up getting sick from the food later that evening. That was my only meal for the day and I started presenting with symptoms not long after eating there. I've been sick since then, so they effectively ruined my birthday and vacation. Food safety and hygiene are an issue at this spot. Meat and dairy products are supposed to be maintained and served at a certain temperature to avoid contamination and food poisoning. It's not the tortillas responsibility to maintain adequate meat temperature! Dishes should be washed well and examined before serving customers. My starter plate had to be replaced becausee it wasn't clean (there were greasy fingerprints all over it). I don't recommend...
Read moreLocated in the hotel/resort The Rosen Shingle, it gets high Mark's for being convenient. I ate there my first night of a conference with a colleague after recovering from food poisoning. I had cheese enchiladas (don't judge). Turned out perfect because their idea of enchilada sauce is barely flavored tomato sauce. This was incredibly pedestrian it could be served to a child first trying solid food. FYI: They are so cheap, they do not even offer chips and salsa when you sit down. That is an up charge.
We went back the second night because their fajitas did look and smell good. They were okay. You can get the same or better quality at a Chili's, so the price is a little irritating and my chicken was a bit dry.
As fate would have it, the next day, I took clients out for lunch and they picked this place. Yep. Three days in a row. This time I chose carnitas tacos. The presentation was nice, but there was almost no flavor, except bad beef and the lime juice from the lime served on the side.
The restaurant does have a nice margarita menu, which I had one during my second visit. Worth trying.
Also, they make tableside guacamole. You pick mild, medium, or hot. It was almost with the cost,...
Read moreAte here last night after leaving Busch Gardens. It is a very beautifully painted restaurant to dmsay the least. The waitress was phenomenal. The chips and salsa were great. Now for the food. It was absolutely trash. I am a foodie. My family and I love trying new places. I come from a Mexican Puerto Rican and white family so I'm a hard critic when a place calls itself authentic. My son ordered a gordo burrito. Looked beautiful when brought out. The inside was cold with very little meat which was only in the very middle. That was disappointing to top it off it was cold 8n the middle as if it was pulled fro. A fridge and microwaved. My girlfriend ordered the same thing except with steak $2 up charge with even less meat. I ordered steak chimichangas which was edible unti I got to the meat. It tasted old like it was Cooke earlier in the day and waiting to be sold. The chimi was soggy with absolutely crisp or flavor. The star of the night was a hamburger and fries my sons friend ordered. Tasted great and the fries were phenomenal. Ultimately the place was clean the staff was super friendly but the food was a complete let down. This place could have potential but they need a new kitchen staff...
