Read morei wait until i have stayed with a company multiple times before leaving a review. this is the third time i've stayed with sonder (this time, i was in a 3 bedroom apartment at vista cay in orlando from sept 20 to sept 27. as someone who has traveled the country as part of my job, i can say, unequivocally, that sonder is one of the best vacation rental companies i have ever stayed with! the rooms are clean; there are minimal furniture scuffs or wear, their contactless check-in is easy via the app, their decor is always lovely, and their rooms always feel bigger than the square footage stated on their website. as for when you need to contact them for something. here is my positive experience with that: in this room in orlando, i needed a lower temperature due to medical reasons and contacted their support team and received an email almost immediately affirming that i could have a lower temperature (68 degrees). as for my other sonder experiences: at a sonder in washington dc, we literally had a security guard offer to help us with our bags without being asked to help because it was so late. he was so nice that we ended up giving him a substantial tip, but not because he asked for one! he never did! also, the sonder i stayed in at ellis square in savannah was a huge 3 room apartment in the heart of one of savannah's retail districts. even tho i did not need to use their parking options on my various trips, sonder was clear about parking options and offered reasonable prices. sonder also offers early checkout for free and late checkout for a nominal fee. i highly recommend this company. the only vacation rental company i've ever liked better was soSuite in Philadelphia, but that is a small and locally operated chain. i have recommended sonder to all of my friends, and i...
Read moreBooked our stay through the Marriott Bonvoy app using reward points. Bottom line - staying here is risky if you run into any issues, because it is almost completely self-service. We arrived about 1 hr, 15 min. before checkin time. Our door lock code wouldn't work yet, but here we were with four heavy suitcases. And we were exhausted. Had to download the Sonder app to get some help. Then had to chat with customer service. They wanted $35 for early check in. OK, fine. Did that. Door code still wouldn't work. Got back on chat. No response. Finally, a worker in a Sonder shirt came along and asked if we were locked out. She fiddled with a handheld device and got the keypad set to open. I stated the code we were emailed was xxxx, and she said, no, that's not the code I had for you. So she had to go check her laptop. More waiting. Finally, after $35 and nearly an hour, we got in. The entire place smelled like a dorm or cheap apartment building. The faint smell of trash in the hallway and apartment mustiness they've tried to cover up with new paint. The unit was just ok. Mostly clean, but not immaculate. Stains on the sofa, and the rugs have seen much better days. No artwork on the walls. Lots of worn spots on furniture and walls. Master shower floor grungy. The fitted sheets were a pain in the backside. Everyone complained that they kept coming undone at the corners. Pillows were lumpy. Mattresses quite hard. Air conditioning was a bit wonky. Only one of the three bedrooms has a TV. If you needed any supplies or extras, there was an Essentials closet. The towels in there were never restocked during our entire 3 night stay. We just made do with what we had. We weren't 100 percent comfortable, but it was just okay for a short stay. Pool area was nice. Easy walk to Publix...
