Went for brunch and was very disatified with food and service. We were quoted wrongfully for a mimosa pitcher. The pricing for the pitcher we were told was $20, since the pricing isn't on the menu we took their word for it. My huevoos rancheros wasn't properly cooked and just distasteful. It was loaded with cheese and barely any sauce. My tortillas were cold. The mimosa were very dry and the juice was warm. The bill came and asked the waiter why we were charged $30 for the pitcher she claims the guy who quoted us is the just a cleaner and doesn't know the prices. She told another employee sine the manger was missing who we respectfully told to add prices on the menu as a tip for better business and he did not care and walked away saying "What do you want me to do". As customers we felt disrespected and knew we would never come back here anyways. Once we paid the amount quoted the employees chose to notify the police who was also eating in the restaurant. We gracefully offered to notify them ourselves since they felt the police was necessary for their faults. It is unfortunate that a business operated by people of color feel the need to threatened customers with law enforcement for $10. They could of solved they issue by apologizing and allowing the server who quoted us in the first place to speak for himself all of a sudden they chose to keep him in the back while the lady waiter played messenger. It is also worry some having employees scared of law enforcement afraid to admit that they made a mistake. It was especially disheartening to be treated as if our service was not appreciated as residents in the community. Imagine having the police called on you for $10... It wasn't about the money it was the principle that the workers and management have No interest in offering the best service and they will sustain potential...
Read moreSaturday brunch we came here to grab a bite and then wonder around Jack London Square just because it was such a beautiful sunny day and we don't get to come here too often. Usually we come to visit the 2 breweries that are nearby (Federation and Independent Breweries). This place is right next to Federation.
Place was full although we quickly were seated at a table for three. The service was rude. Our waitress just didn't smile at all and she wasn't being friendly and nice. Given that I've been in the service industry before, I know how hard it is to satisfy all customers when you're having the worst day of your life, but a smile goes a very long way.
Between the three of us we ordered:
Eggs Benedict canadian bacon ($12.99) Patty melt ($11.99) Sonoma Chicken ($12.50)
My eggs benny were lovely and beautifully cooked so I was very happy with my dish. Couldn't finish the potatoes because it was too much but they were delicious.
Patty melt was perfectly cooked (medium rare) served on a sandwich with caramelised onions, fries and fresh fruit. My hubby was happy :)
Now, we come to our friend who ordered the sonoma chicken which came as an open sandwich with Greek salad. It was a mess at first sight, couldn't tell where the sandwich began and where the salad started. The sandwich wasn't nicely grilled which would have been a nice touch. Our friend asked specifically for no tomatoes and extra caramelised onions and he ended up getting tomatoes with no extra onions. Boo hoo :(. Instead of simply saying sorry and quickly come with extra onions, our waitress waited till we were finished with our meal to bring the extra. This is just not done I'm sorry.
Restaurant was a little dirty and so were the restrooms. This makes me sad. All in all, nothing really memorable to come back...
Read moreThis is a COVID 19 review related, so please read. I have been here too many times before COVID. And after I have been to limited establishments. I will say this. Number one the hours of operation is posted correctly, and dine in is available (outside tables). My sister wanted to buy me breakfast, I usually buy her breakfast. So after several places with posted dine in. We realized that wasn’t the case. After the several miss guided opens!!!! we started the day out at the Oakland grill. Fish and steak was off the menu. Service was limited. But the item I ordered taste was better than I had at this joint before COVID. I ordered a scramble dish . Here I believe they call it Jerry scramble. I asked for A side of English muffins extra toasted, extra butter. It was Good. Potatoes( home fries) was cooked all the way though. Despite having a small egg shell and extremely limited services the food was cooked to point and I left happy and full. Normally an egg shell is never more than a 3 star no matter what. But the flavor and texture was so on point it would rock a solid 3.7. I was happy to round it off at 4. Service could be slightly better but with limited space and workers the waiter was truly doing her best with what she was working with. I’ll...
