We ordered Rico Rico catering for our wedding reception and it was the best decision we could have made. We ordered the tacos, picked them up, and brought them to our venue about an hour away and we were amazed that everything was still hot.
Food: Firstly, the food is delicious. For our party we ordered chorizo, al pastor, carnitas, pollo, hongo, and nopales. Our friends couldn't get over how great the hand-made tortillas were, and our vegan friends were stoked with the mushroom and cactus vegan taco options. Because of Rico Rico's inclusive menu, it was easy to cater to all the unique dietary restrictions our friends have while still providing them with a great array of delicious food.
Quantity: We ordered the tacos "deconstructed" which we highly recommend for catered events so that folks can add their toppings as they see fit. The amount of food is SUBSTANTIAL. We estimated 3 tacos per person, but I forgot that because the tacos are fairly large and the tortillas are so thick, that the tacos are really filling. So it was closer to 2 tacos per person—but I'm glad we erred on the side of caution. With our taco order, they also provide roasted jalapeños, roasted onions, diced onions and cilantro, carrots, radishes, lime wedges, and salsa. We were stoked they didn't skimp on any of the classic taco sides. We would totally do Rico Rico for catering again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend it to anyone considering it as an option for their event.
Service: We had a bunch of questions about the catering process and how to order, and Marisol answered all of our emails quickly. They were super accommodating with adjusting the time to pick up our order, and the whole process was so simple and straight-forward. Each aluminum catering tray is packed neatly into cardboard boxes and labeled clearly. The food stayed fresh, warm, and didn't spill in transit, and was a cinch to set-up upon arrival.
All in all 10/10 catering experience, I would absolutely order rico rico for an...
Read moreThis used to be my go-to spot because I work down the street. I purchased a burrito and as I was eating it, I found a long piece of hair in it. I was immediately disgusted by it. I tried to give them a call but no one answered, I went back to the restaurant and I said that I found a piece of hair in my food and said clearly it’s not mine because I have braids in my hair and I would like a refund now for that. I had also ordered chips and salsa and an Agua Fresca sidenote they had also given me the wrong Agua Fusca I wanted the Jamaica one and they ended up giving me the watermelon one. I showed her a picture of it and the first thing she asked was can you send me the picture so I went ahead and sent it to her then she says I’ll go ahead and remake the burrito I said no I would just like my money back at this point so she gives me my money back but it’s only for the burrito. I said I spent more than $11 here and she said well this is for the burrito I said why to return all of these items to you I don’t want them because of what happened and she said well there’s nothing wrong with those others items so you can keep them I got a little loud and said I found a hair in my burrito. I don’t want any of this food. I was disgusted by it so she decided to give me all my money back. She did not apologize she didn’t say anything it was like she was annoyed about what happened. I don’t know what happened at Rico Rico, but they used to have the best Customer Service and it has gone downhill. Also, a lot of the women who cook do not...
Read moreThe food is good, I did takeout. Unfortunately, the service was sub-par when I got there. I was running late after dropping my kid off at practice, but I was only about 20 minutes late. When I got there, my food was not ready to be picked up, so either it was stolen or never mad, not a great look to begin with. To make matters worse, when I tried to talk to somebody about it, I was ignored until finally I got his attention. He told me that “somebody must have picked it up” in frankly condescending tone like I was an idiot or something. I tried to respond by saying that nobody else could have picked it up so it must have been stolen, to which he clapped back that I was an hour late which was just plain wrong. He also told me to “not give him so much sass” when I hadn’t and it was him in fact doing so. I had to wait about 10 more minutes which wasn’t bad, and I would say the food saved the experience. I’m honestly just a little bit disappointed on how the whole situation was handled. The rest of the staff seemed nice and it’s unfortunate that he was the one that was interacting with customers. I probably would come back just...
