Came to the peach this morning for brunch with my wife. It was not busy for a Saturday at 10 AM. We were probably 1 of 4 or 5 tables in the place was staffed appropriately.
We ordered a biscuit, their miso French toast, and an avocado toast.
All of the food came out cold, not cold as it had been sitting for a long time, waiting to be picked up but cold as in it was premade and simply assembled when we ordered. This fact was also substantiated due to the fact that our food came out very quickly and all at once Within five minutes after we ordered.
The biscuit was served with butter and honey. However, the biscuit was so cold that the butter simply stayed solid on top. The biscuit was also overly salty, which was unfortunate because it looked amazing.
The avocado toast was put on bread that seemed like it was not warmed up therefore, cutting into the hard bread was very difficult. The garnish radish on top was not ripe and therefore impossible to cut or chew so we put it to the side.
The French toast came out looking amazing. Honestly, I was really hopeful for this dish. However, I touched the French toast based on how cold the other food was, and it was clear that this was not Fresh. The French toast probably was dipped and cooked earlier and simply assembled when we ordered the whipped cream on top and the compote tasted very good however, the French toast, being premade and cold, made it very hard to eat as it was dry and not warm at all. By the end of our meal the French toast was the same temperature as a cutlery on the table.
Look, I get it dining out these days in the bay is expensive. the atmosphere at the peach was amazing in the sense that the decor and the vibes were on point however the price of the meal and the automatic 18% gratuity on top of that was inexcusable based on the condition of the food that we received.
I really hope that they actually do read this review simply serving us fresh warm food - made to order probably would change this review completely and have changed our dining experienced.
Not sure if we give this place another shot but if you do end up going, please ask for everything to be made fresh and warm if it is not...
Read moreThe atmosphere and décor at The Peach are lovely — easily the highlight of the experience. Unfortunately, the food itself was average at best, nothing that stood out compared to other options in the area.
The biggest disappointment, however, was the mandatory 18% gratuity that was quietly added to the bill, even though we were only a party of two. I only learned about this after asking, and the explanation given was that it’s “because of the excellent service.” While I appreciate service staff and always tip, in this case the service was just standard — taking the order, delivering the food, and bringing the check. In my view, gratuity should remain a reflection of the customer’s experience and satisfaction, not a preset charge.
For a restaurant that prides itself on hospitality, this approach feels misleading and frankly unfair. If gratuity is going to be enforced, it should at least be communicated clearly upfront so diners can make an informed choice before sitting down.
Ultimately, while the ambiance is nice, the food and service did not justify the price point or the imposed gratuity. For this reason, I won’t be returning. Hopefully management reconsiders this policy, as transparency and fairness go a long way in building...
Read moreA Disappointing Experience at The Peach on Lakeshore I recently dined at The Peach on Lakeshore, and while the food was decent, a few significant issues left a sour taste in my mouth. The dishes were just okay, and frankly, a bit overpriced for the quality. However, the real problem was the automatic 18% gratuity added to my bill. I looked around and didn't see any signs or notices about this policy beforehand. It's frustrating when a restaurant dictates how much you should tip, especially without informing you. To make matters worse, after adding the mandatory gratuity, the receipt still had a line for an additional tip. It felt like a brazen request after they had already taken a significant portion of my money. I believe tipping should be based on the quality of the service and the diner's discretion. This policy felt like a disrespectful and transparent grab for more money. Because of this, I will not be returning to The Peach on Lakeshore. There are too many other great restaurants in the area that trust their customers...
