We absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone! My wife and i usually only eat indian food at Amrit Palace just about every weekend for the last 4 years which is known by all locals as the best indian restaurant by far in Ocala but today my wife asked me if we want to give bombay cafe a second chance. I hesitated because we've been there once before and had an issue with the server being dishonest but still we gave it another chance after 2 years passed and boy did we regret it. Not only did the young lady server not listen to most of what we were asking her super nicely and politely but i would have to have filmed it for you to believe how rude she was when i nicely told her that we asked for NO BUTTER on our dolsa! She said something along the lines of "yes yes yes ok alright". All i did is say " pardon me ma'am we asked for no butter. Im 45 and super nice and polite and never had a server do anything like this to me or in front of my family and we were totally ok with the owner and 5 friends eating together near us and being so loud we could not ever hear our own words. That was the least of our worries. I also wanted to order a third dish and ask about the dish and server says "i think what you got is enough" without answering my question i kid you not 🤣 that was a first for me. My wife, myself and my hungry 3 year old boy walked out of there. We ended up going to Amrit Palace and as always they treated us like family and outstanding service at AMRIT PALACE! Good bye and good ridance forever Bombay Cafe! this little hole in the wall is TRASH!!! Most complaints are about that same waiter on reviews and one review the person got severe food poisoning and had to be on medication. Read reviews please!!! We also use to shop at their market next door every other week for okrah and spices but never again!!! We will go to the market farther from our home...
Read moreMy wife likes Indian food because she worked with many of them when she was in the laboratory. I don’t know this food at all. The server was not well trained. Her English was very limited & asking questions was impossible. She brought us water in a chilled decanter. When you pick up the decanter it was greasy. I believe this is a vegetarian onlyRestaurant. The first thing my wife selected they where out of. We both ordered soup which was served quickly but the bowl was a cup size. Mine was warm and spicy. It was basically tomato soup with onions and cilantro. My wife’s was a creamed corn soup. I also ordered a pizza but was never asked which one I wanted as the have two. It didn’t taste too bad but was room temperature at best and served on a small round bread also cold. The sauce tasted like canned pizza sauce and was smothered with finely shredded cheese. I ate 1 of the 4 slices and my wife had a slice. Sorry I have nothing good to say about this place. I went to their website site and the menu on it is different and cheaper then what is in...
Read moreThe delicious smell of spices is the first thing you encounter when you open the door. Do not be fooled by the plain storefront or interior - the inside is clean, simple, and no frills. (just my style) The menu is full of traditional Northern Indian cuisine, perfectly spiced and with good portion sizes.
Starting with a "new to me" dish is the samosa chaat. One large samosa topped with additional potato, onion, and various chutneys, and garnished with fried shredded chickpeas. This is $6.99 and would easily feed 3-4 people.
I ordered the saag paneer which is a rich spinach dish, with cubes of Indian cheese (paneer). I always order my first dish in a new place with zero spice level. My entree exceeded expectation and I could tell that the entree is made to order and not scooped out of a precooked sauce in the walk in.
The garlic naan was soft with fresh garlic and corriander. the edges were crispy where they should be and softer toward the center.
Overall I would rate good to great based on price, quality, and...
