if you've had a bad day, do not go to this Steak n Shake. you'll want to kill yourself. No one acknowledged our entrance, and there's a small sign saying to use the kiosks (no employee to take your order). only 1 takes cash, and one of the card only didn't even work. this establishment cannot accept bills over $50, so make sure you bring small bills! theres a claw machine we were very excited to spit some money into. no sign or anything - and that doesn't work either. waited 10 mins, my name called, and it's just my shake, no food. I asked "is the food coming..?" and got no response from the worker who was already walking into the back. then there's no shake straws. im not sure if you've ever tried to drink an oreo shake through a small soda straw, but that is how i would serve a shake to someone I want to see burn in hell. the food came out shortly after - we had ordered dine-in but the vibe was ruined and we were ready to just take it home, so we asked the employee to please pack it to-go. I should've looked at the food before she packed it, because as soon as we got home and unpacked the food there was none of the sauces we ordered (and paid for!! sauces are at least $0.50 each) were in there. The only redeeming quality of our visit was the young worker who was mopping the floor. we (half) joked about just breaking into the claw machine to her, and her response made it clear that she does not enjoy her job and is just there to get paid. she was the most attentive, and sprinkled some light into this hell-hole of an attempted dine-in experience. we busted up laughing as we left - literally everything that could've been bad was bad. again the only enjoyable bit was joking with the employee about how horrible this place was (and I mightve taken a handful of spoons to compensate for the distress). better luck in the drive through where your interaction with the...
Read moreBack 10 years this was a nice place to dine in. Not so much anymore. As we're being seated we walk past 4 booths that haven't been cleared. We were sat at the less dirty table in the row. Crumbs and straw wrappers. The waitress wiped the table. My husband and I took bets on how long until they took our drink order. Surprisingly, it was only 5 or so minutes! We placed our food order at the same time because we didn't want to chance her not coming back that quickly next time. The chillie was like warm. The cup looked as if they used it to get the chillie out of the pot. Fresh chillie running down the side of the cup on top of dried chillie, this leads me to believe the cup was dirty to start with. The jalapeno crunch burger had 4 twigs of fried onions, for it being named crunch burger there was no crunch. The salsa was refrigerator cold. How do you put cold salsa on a hot burger? Two employees were out front smoking, one was holding the door open while doing so. The table next to us was waiting 20 minutes before the waitress came to tell them their order hadn't gone to the kitchen. She had two you children with her. They were hungry. There was no manager in sight looking over the diner. If you go to the drive thru, they are fast and food is hot and fresh. In my opinion, they should do like checkers and be a...
Read moreEdit They finally opened the dining room. I suggest they keep it closed!! Dirty, unbelievably dirty. If you could see the kitchen and dining room, you'd vomit. Management needs to be replaced or retrained. I worked for Five Guys as a GM for Five years. Unacceptable lack of cleanliness.
First time at a Steak and Shake. So the dining room is closed... I am forced to use the drive thru. We waited behind three cars and it took about ten minutes to get to "the box". The young man that took our order was quick and abrasive. No guest service skills whatsoever. He obviously hates his job. We got our order it was all correct. The food was good.... Nothing exceptional. The shake however was good but the lids don't snap on correctly and my passenger wore a chocolate shake by holding it too tight.
Open your dining room!! Why are you one of the few that still refuses to "open". You cannot sustain that business location on drive thru. You do realize that most people faced with you dining room closure will go elsewhere, not your drive thru. You are killing your income and negatively developing a name for yourselves in Ocala.
Good luck from a first timer. We...
