16th Street Seafood — Restaurant in Ocean City

I judge a place mostly by if I would return, and honestly, I would not. The money just was not worth what we received.

After a 2 hour wait time (which I was fine with... its summer), I ordered dinner that included soups, a few platters, and appetizers. Much of the food was cold, including the soups (so cold I had to reheat them). I dont know how it was cold because we are staying only 2 blocks away and I was there to pick up before it was ready, so it wasnt sitting around. Additionally, the potatoes in the Manhattan Clam Chowder were way undercooked. There was a lot of clams in it though... but it was hard to get over the raw potato crunch. The coconut shrimp was overcooked, almost burnt. The crab cake was decent, but again, cold. Fried scallops were good. The french fries I received with my platter were in a separate container with the lemon wedge, so the few fries I received were wet with lemon juice. Poor packaging idea. I dont mind paying the money to eat seafood, but this overall was just disapointing. I will try a different...

I called to place an online order and was met with a very rude reception. When I asked her to read the large order back to me to make sure she got everything she audibly sighed into the phone. On the phone I was told an hour to an hour and a half. I called before I left to pick it up and asked if it was ready and they told me no but didn’t tell me there was a delay in my order. I arrived in the later part of my pick up window (after about an hour 20 minutes) and was told it wasn’t ready yet. I then proceeded to wait an extra 20 minutes in the store. No one came up to me to give me an update on my order or to check in with me. I then went up and asked how much longer the order would take and they went in the back to check. They told me it would be another 25 minutes. When I challenged them on that and said it didn’t match up with the wait time on the phone the girl working there was very rude to me as a paying customer.

This place is a staple in Ocean City. If you want any kind of seafood they most likely have it. Everything is seasoned and cooked to perfection. Whenever I order I like a little extra seasoning on my food and they never fail to impress me. The staff is super friendly, nice, and out going. Everything is neatly packaged and bagged up. When I place orders for a large party I always go to them. The front staff always offers to help me carry things out instead of me taking multiple trips. My favorite thing to order is the bacon wrapped Cape May scallops with fries and the fresh hand breaded chicken! Perfection every time. The fries are delicious and never soggy. Coleslaw is amazing and fresh. The fresh hand breaded chicken smells and tastes heavenly. And the New England clam chowder is to die for. Don't underestimate this place!
