DDR X machine is unplayable - you can’t hear it. Attendant brought us to Jurassic Park - also no audio. Then the Let’s Go Island machine, which had sound you could only hear if you literally put your ear up to the speaker. Which the attendant did herself, in fact. We were then brought to the Buck Hunter machine whose left side was duct taped over and wasn’t working. Attendant didn’t know enough about the game to give any advice on playing with my wife on the right side only. Walking Dead right side sensor is wonky and the reticle freaks out - makes it hard to aim. I can’t imagine all 3 of those machines had identical audio issues so what I’m sure they’re doing is turning down volume on some machines on purpose to cut down on noise. Understandable but extremely difficult to actually enjoy any of the games. Just an awful experience. Compounded by bad lemonade from you guys too. Had to get a refund on a Large size. Diluted lemon taste, with a mouthful of granular sugar when you sipped it. I don’t remember it being like this last year.
It’s a uniquely bizarre thing to have been coming here for decades and visit now to see this odd hollowing-out of the spirit that seemed to drive this place in this past. Jilly’s is one of the first places I played DDR, back when you had the SuperNova machine right out front, facing the boardwalk. I used to draw crowds there back in the day. I guess it’s this weird mix of nostalgia and disappointment in the apparent disrepair of a number of the cabinets and the cluelessness (despite their willingness to help) of the staff.
I’ll still always have a place in my heart for Jillys arcade and I’m sure my future kids will love it too but as a fan of arcades with a soft spot for this one in my home county - I can’t help but feel I could do way better if it were my arcade. Thanks...
Read moreThis arcade operated by the one and only Jilly always exceeds what my expectations of an arcade are. Many minutes have been spent grinding Dance Dance Revolution, and Lane Master (which is the best value game for $1.00 as you get to play 10 frames of bowling plus bonus rounds). As for guitar hero, absolutely a pain. My arm was sore for days. Maybe I suck, but the darn buttons wouldn’t darn press. It was blasphemous. I absolutely botched “cherub rock” by the smashing pumpkins so bad that my character walked off the stage. This is not due to my lack of skill, I swear. This is the guitar-controller (i play guitar irl so you can trust me on that one). However, there one outstanding attraction, the famous “Connect 4 Hoops.” At first, it was a simple game of win and lose, but soon one of draw. The idea was to play one on one and tie the board completely—filling it up entirely with no wins. After YEARS of attempts, with hundreds of dollars and hours and spent, as will as vigorous mathematics and research, it has finally been done on August 9, 2024. Although, we did get all three balls stuck in the same hole requiring a stressed worker to grab the broom and attempt to fish out the clog to no avail. The mechanic was then phoned who had to climb fully in to the machine. 4/5. “Oh no…I just still can’t believe we actually did that. We were trying for years. I still just can’t believe we did that. We’ve been trying for years.” -Friend who also enjoyed the arcade and made...
Read moreIf i could give less that one star for the staff at this place I would. The other reviews about rude manager and staff are very true to their word. The arcade games were great fun, but the lady who claimed to be manager of the store was extremely rude and racist. We were outside in the parking lot and came across a black KIA Nero car that we started talking about since we are planing to buy it. Mind you, we own a car that's twice the price of the car we were looking at and had it parked right next to KIA. The so called manager came out and yelled at us ordering to move away from the car in a very rude way. She just assumed that we were trying to get close to the red sports car her boss had parked next to the KIA car without even asking us what we were doing. We didnt even look at the red car, let alone get closer to it. Upon confronting about her rude behavior, she slammed the door of the employee office on our face and left. When we were leavong, she started talking unptofessionally about us with other customers. The overall staff was very rude and unprofessional. The management should take a closer look at who they hire to run a popular place like this. We are never going back and will be telling our friends to stay away from the place when...
