We were super excited to try someplace new to us in Ocean City. Being Restaurant Week, the specials advertised were enticing to bring us in.
Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately by a friendly young man who told us to have a seat anywhere. He brought us menus. Five minutes later an older woman, later learned from the receipt her name was Janet. Janet brought the specials menu, however we were ready to order.
We ordered Cream Chipped Beef over toast with hash browns, we specifically asked for the CBB to be over everything. We also ordered the Eastern Shore Omelette . It should be noted when I ordered the omelette I asked for the eggs to made on the side to go as I’m allergic. All the other ingredients could be combined with the hash browns. (I’ve done this at many restaurants)
When our food was delivered, the Cream chip beef was only on the toast not on the hash browns. The CCB tasted flat, there was no salt or pepper added while cooking it, you know that little love. The eastern shore omelette had a good amount of melted cheese on top of the potatoes, when pulled back you could see a few pieces of crab meat and ham. There was no taste. I realized it was missing the imperial sauce. I waited and waited but our server never came back to the table to check on us. I was fortunate enough to catch the young man’s attention and ask, he questioned if it wasn’t in there. I flipped the serving and showed him how dry it was. He asked if I would like a side of the sauce I replied yes. I added it to my dish, and it completely changed the taste. Just wish I had it when it was hot.
Our server never asked how everything was or if we would like more coffee or iced tea. My iced tea was mostly ice. I had to flag her down to get the eggs to go. She brought those to the table with check.
Based on this visit we will not be back. The food was okay. Our server...
Read moreSimple place with minimal decor but seemed cleaned. Kind of a diner feel without the homey charm. Indoor and outdoor seating. One individual women's bathroom and one individual men's bathroom. Both clean but we had to wait to use since there is only 1 for each. Lunch isn't served until noon and they are very strict about it (review rating isnt affected by this; we understand kitchen times have to be set). We came at 11:45 and they wouldnt let us even see a lunch menu. We ordered pancakes to tide us over until we were given permission to look at the lunch menu. Someone gave us a lunch menu and then someone else came to take it back and give us a different menu because we had been given a set of outdated lunch menus. The food took a very long time, even simple things like pancakes. Everything tasted fine but was nothing overly special and the prices were very high for the product in our opinion. This place wasn't bad, it just didn't really have anything great that would make us want to go back. There are so many better places to choose from in the area that we won't be back. We didn't see a dedicated parking area and instead used the public lot directly across the street from the restaurant. At the time of this review, parking was $3 per hour...
Read moreI was looking online for a place that served late morning breakfast and came across Sea Bay Cafe on 60th Street. Their website said breakfast was served until 2:00p.m. This was very helpful because not every place clearly states how late breakfast is served.
In our party of four we each started with fruit cups. The fruit was freshly cut and prepared by our server, Janet. It included strawberries, blueberries and bananas. A good size serving. We ordered French toast, pancakes, and creamed chipped beef, all with sausage links. My personal choice, the French toast, was very tasty. The sausage link was also tasty and well cooked. Everyone enjoyed their food. The coffee was flavorful.
The cafe is clean and has a pleasant appearance. Seating is available inside or outside. Indoor seating is comfortably spaced. Janet was very friendly and pleasant.
Although the Sea Bay Cafe is 76 blocks from our north OC beach home we will definitely return. A nice change of pace from the more crowded and loud places.
Tip: The address online is shown as 6007 Coastal Hwy. However, the restaurant is on the side of the building on 61st Street. Look for the orange flag sign outside that says "breakfast" and...
