During our week-long stay at the Grand Hotel, we had the pleasure of spending a significant amount of time at their bar, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The hotel itself is fantastic for families, featuring two game rooms where you can leave your kids to enjoy themselves while you relax at the bar. This setup allowed us to unwind without any worries, which was a huge plus. On Monday, we met Victoria, an exceptional bartender who truly enhanced our experience. Not only was she friendly and knowledgeable about the town, providing us with great tips on where to go and what to do, but she also showcased her impressive mixology skills. Despite the bar being in the process of updating its menu for the new season and not having a printed menu available, Victoria created some of the most amazing cocktails based on our taste preferences. Her drinks were delicious, refreshing, and presented with a professional touch – a solid 10/10 for presentation and flavor. However, our experience was somewhat marred the following day when a different bartender was on duty. I can’t speak to the food because we only came for drinks.

My family and I have been coming to OCMD for 10+ years. This has always been a weeknight favorite for a few drinks, as our grandfather always used to “hide” here to get away from the large family. Back when it was the hideaway, we called it Joe’s Hideaway.

Last week, we had an awful experience. The bartender was extremely unwelcoming and rolled his eyes and sighed when we sat and ordered drinks. It was 10:30pm, and there were maybe 3 groups of 2 at the bar. We were doing our ladies night and had about 15 of us come in waves. Each time more of us came, we were met with an attitude, and eye rolling. As a former bartender, I would have been grateful for the business and money, considering it was dead before we arrived. After about 30 minutes, the bartender said he was calling last call, so we ordered another round. When the total was questioned, (we didn’t receive an itemized receipt) we were met with demeaning comments, and just absolute rude and uncalled for conversation from the bartender. He told us we were running him ragged. We’re a group of 35 year old - 65 year old women, ordering vodka sodas, not rowdy 21 year olds.

I'm a 24 y/o guest at this hotel here for a wedding. On 04/09/2021 at around 5:30 I got two alcoholic beverages with my VA ID without an issue. Shortly before midnight several of us came down here to grab a drink and for karaoke. The girl at the bar (server 2005) told me she could not accept my ID because it was vertical. VA ID can be both vertical and horizontal. My ID is valid and the hotel even has a copy of it for when I booked the room. I told her that I was here several hours ago and had no issues with my ID. She very rudely said "I highly doubt that" saying I was lying about being there earlier and being served. I pulled up my bank account and showed her my receipt where I was served and told her that I understand she's not comfortable for whatever reason but that I did not appreciate her saying I was lying. She then tried to say she didn't do that and I repeated what she said. She then tried to say that she did not say those words and then walked away. She then went to the lady running karaoke and started complaining to her about me for several minutes. Otherwise the bartender who served me at 5:30p was great and this hotel overall has been amazing.
