Ive been Wyndham-loyal for awhile but this was a hotel I sadly would not return to. On a positive note, when we needed something in-room, they were immediate to supply it. They were equally as fast in responding to questions, & theyre the ONLY hotel that has ever provided my 'extra requests' & had them waiting in-room when we arrived! The staff was all very kind (even despite my moments of frustration with them). So those parts of the service were totally amazing. ||However... it is horribly noisy - & I mean HORRIBLE NOISE. The beds were awful in ways of comfort. For a place that sits ON the coast, sand is a real problem & it didnt seem housekeeping had EVER cleaned a floor. We had a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on our door all 6 days of our stay, & apparently no one understands what that means. Though they were kind, they simply didnt listen - The desk called our room DAILY re turnover service we did not desire (even after twice being asked not to), so I actually had to unplug the phone! We redeemed points to cover all but one night here, so for a nearly "free" stay, I feel we got what we "paid" for (although we VERY much paid out & bought/earned those points, so it still feels like a frustrating, unbalanced loss) Rest & peace were not a thing here, & if we return to Ocean City in the future, we'll definitely stay somewhere else. ||Some points to note that might be useful to others/families: open hall corridors exposed to all weather elements create a dangerously slippery environment even when being careful.|The internet isnt actual complete wifi, but a mainland hotspot that barely functioned while we were there. I do not see it being reliable means of remote work connection for anyone traveling for/conducting business.||Rooms:|Dirty floors and uncomfortable beds. Wifi is only a dysfunctional mainland hotspot and barely works.||Nearby activities:|If youre going for an OC festival, the location is perfect. Far enough up the boardwalk to have less outdoor crowd noise, but close enough to walk to/from (a little over 2mi ea way)||Safety:|Open hall corridors exposed to all weather elements create a dangerously slippery environment even when being careful. Elderly, toddlers, pregnant women or anyone with stability issues could very much be at risk for injury.||Walkabity:|The boardwalk is amazing! Everything an ocean town needs to be! Close to shopping, retaurants, etc... we walked til we ached (prob upward of 30 miles in our 5 full days there). And, unlike Floridas patroled and closing-time beaches, the OC beaches can be peacefully enjoyed 24/7... spent a lot of time gazing at waves under the stars.||Food/drinks:|Huuuge variety of great eats and drinks for every dietary desire! I swear, we'd go all the way across the country again to OC just to go back to Shenanigans - phenom restaurant!! (And we have...
Read morePROS: *Ocean Front right on the boardwalk *Text customer service. You receive a welcome text and then can ask for more towels, report a maintenance issue, or use that to contact the front desk for whatever. They also sent us a text to check on us mid-week. Super nice and easy! *Wonderful front desk service *Very thorough and friendly housekeeping staff (we brought our dog and so they don't come in your room if the dog is present, but they left us care packages of fresh towels every day at our door). *Attentive maintenance staff keeping the parking lot, grounds, building, and walkways clean and safe. We had a maintenance issue one evening and texted for help and they came super fast! *Clean Rooms! *No carpet in the rooms! Being so close to the ocean and on the beach, the carpet would mold so quickly and be full of sand. But, their vinyl floors were perfect. *Screens in the sliding glass doors to the balcony! *Exhaust fans in the bathrooms! *Spacious rooms *Great pillows and duvets *Large TV that you can hook up your streaming or gaming device to *Pet Friendly!! There is a large grass area out front, with potty bags, for potty breaks. We were also given a flyer of dog-friemdly places and thinhs to do, when we checked in *Super strong and comfy balcony chairs *Nice large outdoor pool with a lift for disabled folks *Directly across from a beach entry point with an outdoor shower, bike rack, and chair rentals *There was a list of rainy day activity suggestions in the elevator -museums, breweries, movies, bowling, etc.
CONS: *The parking lot is small and the spaces are too close together, so if you have a truck or van or large SUV you may have some difficulty maneuvering the lot and parking. *NO free breakfast like most Wyndham hotels!! They have a small cafe/bar that opens for breakfast but I only ever saw one couple in there. *The bathroom was like a closet and was very uncomfortable for anyone of average or above size or height to sit, dress, dry off after a shower, etc. The shower was nice but the spray head was low for tall folks. *The foyer area could have used some shelving with hooks underneath, opposite the bathroom. This would be a great place to store recreational items, toiletries, groceries, hang beach towels, etc. *No drink or snack vending machines *No laundry facilities *No gym *No wifi on the balcony and spotty wifi inside the hotel room (kept disconnecting)
This was our fist time staying at this hotel and we were NOT disappointed. Pet-friendly, super clean, right on the beach, and excellent service staff. With a few minor tweaks it would be perfect!! I would highly recommend this spot and we...
Read moreWe are HJ ppl - meaning we typically stay in "fancier" or high level hotels. But after reading the reviews and seeing not many of our typical hotels were in the location we desired we decided to take a chance. We wanted oceanfront and on the Boardwalk. This location fit the bill on the 24th - lots of shops and dining w/in walking distance and a very safe feel. Next time I would likely try the other HJ location on 12th as it more in the middle. |We arrived the same day "Erin" arrived - so beaches were closed and the ocean was very angry. Unfortunately, the storm affected the top floor (5th) rooms which we had reserved (best rooms). |The had been previously communicating w/ me via text about welcoming us and so forth. Then an hour or so out (2pm -ish) they called and told me our room was affected and offered us alternatives. We picked 1st floor OF. They mentioned they were giving us a dinner voucher as well. |At check-in we received our welcome amenity bag for being Diamond Wyndham members and an envelope with not ONE dinner voucher but TWO ($50 each) and a voucher for a large Thrasher fry ($17 value)!! Very nice!! They did this on their own accord when they really didn't have too - the front desk staff is trained very well and you can see they aim to please. These vouchers were not just valid at the onsite restaurant but many places and two places that I had already picked out to eat at!! Super! We did get a drink from the bar by the pool which is super convenient, and the server was very friendly (fellow Romanian :D )|Our room was 2 queens with a kitchenette along w/ a sleeper sofa. The bathroom is very small and virtually no counter space. They did have some shelfing opposite wall which was helpful. No way would I stay here w/ 6! But I am sure some do! |unfortunately, the 2nd evening the guests above us were very loud - loud TV - loud banging around - opening slider - stomping back n forth like cattle - ALL NIGHT? UUGGHHH - super frustrating. |The front desk said they would send security if we had let them know. Wish we would have!|The lingering issue w/ HJ and staying at a 2-star level hotel is unfortunately the clientele - most were fine and pleasant, but a few were not. |There is hot coffee in lobby too.|Again, cannot say enough good things about the front desk staff and even housekeeping - everyone trained well and...
