We arrived around 6 PM, and, understandably, the restaurant was quite busy. We had visited this location once years ago, so we were excited to return. Unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable. We had specifically requested a shaded area, but were seated in the sand instead. While our server (whose name I didn’t catch) took our drink orders, she forgot to include the lemon we had asked for in our water. No big deal, but it set the tone for what was to come. We placed our appetizer orders while I was still deciding on my entrée, and the server came back shortly after with our drinks. She seemed a bit impatient and asked, “Are we just going to snack this evening?” when we weren’t ready to order our main courses. It felt rushed and unnecessary. In the meantime, they did help us reposition our umbrella to get some shade, but then, just as things were starting to improve, they removed the large umbrellas from the boardwalk area. Keep in mind, it was 90°F and the sun hadn’t even started to set yet. The table next to us had to move because they lost their umbrella as well. I ordered the shrimp salad and my husband had the fish and chips. When our food arrived, we were still without utensils, and after a long wait, the server finally brought them to us. Unfortunately, by that point, the sun was directly hitting our table, causing our food to warm up in the heat. To make matters worse, the drinks had already watered down. Then, two staff members came over and took the last bit of shade we had, leaving us sitting in the direct sun. At that point, we had no choice but to take the food to go. The experience was incredibly disappointing, especially considering the food itself was great. The staff this time around just didn’t seem to have the same awareness or attention to detail as we remembered. The lack of proper service and consideration for guests made the entire experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. I was so frustrated that I would have liked to speak to the manager, but by then, I was too hungry and overheated to engage. While I still enjoy the food here, the service and overall experience this time was a letdown. I hope they can improve on the details to match the quality...
Read moreMy first time at the restaurant and I wasn't overly impressed. Definitely a good atmosphere and the service was good and the kids like the play area but the food was just okay. I ordered the Maryland Crab soup for $6.99 and it was barely a teacup of soup. See my pictures as the tiny plastic spoon head wasn't submerged in the soup. It was 1/2 inch deep cup of soup. I believe the soup was consumed in less than 10 spoonfuls. The crackers were bigger than the container. The soup was good, probably would have been better hot, but it's embarrassing to get served such a tiny cup of soup.
I orders the Seared Ahi Tacos and I'll give you a tip. Use the little cup of salsa then give you on the side it makes a world of difference. I ate my 1st taco with no salsa and the fish or condiments had no flavor. Very bland and forgettable. I had Seared Ahi Tuna the night before as an appetizer at a other restaurant and it was seasoned correctly and delicious. The 2nd taco I added the salsa and wow what a difference. They should put it on the taco to begin with as it had a flavor punch that the taco was missing. The included tortilla chips were not great. I would have preferred potato chips or higher quality tortilla chips.
For a tall guy, 6'6", I also didn't like the seating. We were a group of 6 so they sat us at an octagonal wooden picnic type table and I was uncomfortable as I didn't fit in the seat unless I was sitting sideways.
We only waited 10 minutes so not too bad but if we would have waited 30 minutes for the mediocre food I'd probably be a little more harsh. For me I don't need to come back as it was not a...
Read moreThe food was good, but that was the only positive I can give for the experience. We got there at dinner time on a Monday after traveling for 8 hours. The place was absolutely packed, so we knew we would have to wait which was fine. We checked in with the hostess and we're told 40 minutes. This would have been perfectly fine except there was nowhere to wait. There was nowhere to sit or even stand. We ended up walking around and taking our 8 year old to the pirate ship. The sign out front says you child can and probably will get hurt. Not exactly reassuring but we decided to just keep a close eye on him. He was done after less than 5 minutes. Kids were crying because they had sand in their eyes, there is no real "rules" so it was a total free-for-all, half the parents were MIA, and you had 50 kids on a structure just not big enough to accommodate them all. We decided to check out the bait shop instead. They had a decent selection of bait and some tshirts which was nice. My son was super excited because they had Prime Sports drinks lol We finally got texted that our table was read. We were seated outside in the sand, which was ok however our table was dirty. It had never been wiped off from the people before us. Food came out really quickly after we ordered. I ordered the tale wrap, my husband got the flounder sandwich, my youngest got a cheeseburger kids meal, and my older 2 kids split a crab cake sandwich. Each sandwich came with a small bag of chips for the side. We all drank water. Our bill was $90!
Overall I was very disappointed with the experience. The food was good, but not worth $90, and we weren't even...
