Pablo’s Bowls 17th Downtown OC — Restaurant in Ocean City

Food is great, have been coming here for years - fresh, healthy fruit juice and acai bowls - unfortunately, during this visit, I discovered they don't pay attention to their online orders or keep their online item inventory updated. I arrived to the store and saw a sign that said, "Skip the line, order online." Great, I thought, I'll save a few minutes. So I sat at a table, placed the online order and it was to be ready in 20 minutes. I watched all the folks in line place their orders, pick them up, and wondered when mine would finally be ready. 30 minutes later, I alerted a staff member and he said, "oh, sorry let me check." He never returned. 10 minutes later, I found another staff member and inquired yet again - this individual did check the order and promptly informed me they were out of one of the items I ordered and that to get a refund, I would have to stand in line at the register - exactly what I was trying to avoid! So much for saving time by ordering online. All told, it took an hour to get my order and my refund. Would have been far faster to just order at the register from the start - advice to customers: don't waste your time with online orders here. Also, I was very surprised that their utensils and straws are plastic!!! - I assumed this to be a fairly forward thinking, healthy restaurant at a beach of all places - and they should be using compostable products, not plastic that is terrible for the environment and...

I am partial to another all-organic smoothie bowl place in town on 34th st, but they were closed so I decided to try Pablo's, thinking it's not too hard to mess up an acai bowl. But I was wrong. First of all, the bowl was WAY too sugar-y tasting. It tasted like carnival food. The portion of acai was very sad too, I was expecting a much larger bowl for $12.95 but it was about 1/3 acai and 1/3 stale granola. The consistency of the acai was thick which was nice but the flavors were so off, it barely tasted like or even resembled real acai. Acai is supposed to be bright purple, it's a purple berry. Not brown.

I also ordered a juice which wasn't fresh-pressed as they lead you to believe. The juice was so sweet that I'm pretty sure they just added canned apple juice instead of fresh pressing it. (I press juice a lot and this is not the real thing)

The quality of ingredients is very low and you can tell in the flavors. Even the PB they use is like worse than JIF.

Giving 2 stars because the store was very clean and the operation looked smooth. Just wish the ingredients...

My recent experience was very underwhelming. The quality has gone down tremendously :( I ordered 2 smoothie bowls, 2 large juices and 1 large smoothie. Both bowls were completely melted at the time of receiving and very icy, like another reviewer said. The smoothie was so inedible we had to throw it away after 1 sip. It tasted like something was rancid in it???! I tried calling for 2 days at different times of the day and no one ever answered the phone and there's no way to leave a voicemail and there is no email or contact info on their website. I do not live locally so I cannot just come back into the store....I would like a refund if someone could please...
