Satellite Cafe: A Once-Beloved Tradition Now Ruined I Boardwalk location attached to the Howard Johnson

For the past 25 years, Satellite Cafe has been a cherished part of my annual vacation to Ocean City, MD. Unfortunately, my recent visit under the new management was nothing short of disappointing.

The menu changes were the first red flag. One of my favorite dishes, the Spanish omelette, was completely removed. Many of the remaining dishes were either unrecognizable or drastically altered. The food that was served was underwhelming and completely lacked flavor. It was clear they were skimping on ingredients and cutting corners.

The sausages, which were once real, plump, and large links, are now little twigs that were dry and tasteless. The orange juice was putrid and horrid-tasting—an unforgivable offense for a place that used to pride itself on freshness. To make matters worse, the half and half served with my coffee was curdled, adding to the overall disappointing experience.

Ordered take out - pancakes and tenders for my kids. While we were picking up, I kindly asked how many syrups were in the bag and I was told he had put 4. Came back in to the room and found out there was only one syrup in the three piece pancakes. I walked back to the restaurant and asked for more, server/manger tells me 3 piece pancakes only serves with one package syrup. I asked to buy more syrup and he charges me $4.15 for four packages syrups. Most unreasonable pricing, and not even that, the so called manger was cutting the toast with his bare hands that was touching register and everything else, to be on the plate that was going to serve to a customer. Most unsanitary and if he is a manager, i don’t know how he would control other sanitary conditions. We’ve been going to this restaurant for years and has gone down hill since new owners came in. The place wasn't too busy when my party of two went. There were two people working as hostesses, and it took forever to get orders in and also a long time to get the food.
