Castaways — Restaurant in Ocean Springs

My husband and I enjoyed a tasty Thanksgiving menu special that was reasonably priced. We first ordered cocktails before dinner. Since I enjoy a vodka martini straight up before dinner, I gave instructions to the server to make sure that it was made correctly and it was perfect! There's nothing worse than a screwed up martini! My husband ordered his drink and said it was also good. The food was outstanding and a lot of it . Of course I requested a doggie bag! I would have given 5 stars but our server wanted to rush our order before we had a chance to enjoy the cocktails. I even explained to her that we wanted to take our time before ordering. The menu consisted of an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert. When it came time to order, everything was brought out at once. She was a nice person but needed training of good food service. We were both irritated. The restaurant and bar was slow since we came early and I could understand it if it were a full dining room and bar since she also served as a bartender. She just didn't know much about food servicing. We still left her a good tip because I know it must have been difficult for her. I knew that because she would forget things like sauces, wine with dinner, and other little things that I would have to get up and go to the bar to ask for. So I hope she doesn't get in trouble but I do hope the management give her some training. This is the 3rd Thanksgiving that we came and won't be the last. We have enjoyed dinner here off and on for about 10...

Went here last year when we visited Ocean Springs and went three times this year while on vacation. Love that Castaway's is dog-friendly on their outside porch. Decent beer and wine selection, including a beer called Freemason Golden Ale on-tap, which I had not heard of before and it was pretty good. And the food is very good. I got the Shepard's Pie the first visit and a well dressed burger the second and third time this trip. Make sure to ask for remoulade sauce/dressing to put on your salad. My wife got shrimp salad every time and said it was great. We also got the spinach artichoke dip and chips each time, which is outstanding. Becky, the young lady who bartends and waitresses early evenings through 2 AM, is just awesome! She can serve many people efficiently and make them all feel like they are her most important customer. Becky sets a wonderful tone and vibe for this place; she is just great and makes this place a lot of fun. Their sign out front says, "Great Food, Great Drinks, and Great Times". That pretty much sums this place up. As much fun as we had hanging out here as out-of-towners, I can imagine the locals just...

Its been a while since I have eaten here. I was a saddened that the portions have been cut, but what hasn't thanks to bidenomics. It a bar, but it does have an A rating with the health department. We went two days in a row. We co worker and I had the fish and chips and split the king red shrimp as an appitiser. It was a great lunch. The fish and chips is as close to the real thing as I can find stateside. The owner is British if I remember correctly. The next day I had a Ruben sandwich and my coworker had a steak. It was a great Ruben and I only ate half. My coworker was pleased with his steak as well. I have also had the shepherds pie. I have never been disappointed with a meal here....
