Disappointing Experience at Chef Scott’s
I really wanted to like this place, but our recent visit left us completely disappointed. We ordered two steak hibachi dinners, a kids’ vegetable fried rice, and a California roll. The hibachi dinners came with a choice of soup or salad — I got the egg drop soup, and my wife got miso. Her miso was just okay, but the egg drop soup was inedible. It was as thick as oatmeal with unappetizing blobs — I sent it back, but the replacement was just as bad.
I hoped the steak hibachi would make up for it, but it didn’t. The steak was drowning in a watery teriyaki sauce (which we didn’t know came on it), and the portion of fried rice was tiny. The vegetables were barely cooked, and both the rice and steak had an off-putting flavor and very bland tasting . We ended up sending everything back except for the kid’s meal, mostly because our kids had already started picking at it. The California roll was passable, but nothing to come back for.
Chef Scott himself came out and apologized, blaming a new cook who tends to rush — but honestly, that’s not an excuse for food this poorly prepared. I don’t normally leave reviews, but as I write this, my stomach is turning. This was a big letdown and unfortunately, we...
Read moreI went during the Peter Anderson festival. This is a huge annual event where this restaurant is directly on the walking path of the festival. He only had three servers to handle the constant flow of foot traffic. Upon arriving my family and I were told to sit in a dirty table and she would clean it off. We sat for approximately 15 minutes before somebody came by and remove the dirty dishes. I took another 25 to 30 minutes before we go to menu and drinks. By the time we placed our order we have been they’re almost an hour. I was trying to be patient since it was such a busy day. 20 minutes after ordering we still hadn’t received our food so we left without ever eating. Poor management in my opinion. If you are going to be in the middle of a festival, you overstaff yourself for that day. Seems as though he was more worried about turning more profit than providing good service. I can’t give you a review of the food because we never got any. The fact that they give canned drinks for your drinks was kind of a turn off though. I’m assuming we would’ve been charged any time we got another one but we weren’t able to get service to get refills while we...
Read moreI have LOVED Chef Scott’s for years! Every location and has always been my favorite. Never had a bad experience and food has always been delicious (hints why I always go back). However, this evening I placed a pickup order over the phone. Lady at counter was super nice, I paid and she said it will be just a few minutes on the order. Midway through I could tell something was off, tension wise. Myself and a family were the only ones in the restaurant. Chef started yelling at the front cashier and clearly it made everyone else uncomfortable (myself and the family). The lady had to walk away, after apologizing and saying sorry sir multiple times, to compose herself because she was clearly upset. It was like he kept throwing jabs and said at one point , “I thought you were smarter than that.” Was really uncomfortable. Order was ready and she apologized for the delay, I told her it’s not a problem, thank you. Idk, the whole situation was very...
