Beatnik — Hotel in Ocean Springs

Not safe. I was robbed on Beatnik Hotel property the 1st night. Predators are lurking and walking the streets here to rob unsuspecting tourists. Turns out Beatnik Hotel and roughly 10 mile radius has the highest property crime rate in the entire state according to a google search for crime statistics in the Beatnik Hotel city limits, I learned post robbery. We rented all four units and had the entire property to ourselves. Owner wife lives nearby and came to look our family over having a good stare with little to say, the 1st morning as we sat at her outdoor garden. Odd. This strikes me as the perfect opportunity for her to give us/ her guests a cautionary alert, warning, heads up, to caution us to be mindful and vigilant of securing our property. Nothing. Their property manager said this has never happened before, (meanwhile, a google crime search for this area suggests otherwise) and she would look over the camera footage and asked me specifically when I thought it happened so she didnt have to watch the footage from the entire day to locate thief. Now she is avoiding my phone calls. Unclear, the cameras are likely props and useless. She asked if I would report to police. Im a tourist and dont care to spend my vacation engaging the local police dept. No southern hospitality here. No concern for Beatnik Hotel guests safety.

Owners care more about aesthetic of their garden than the comfort of their guests. There is an outdoor table but no sun umbrella for shade. The sun umbrellas are used to anchor another section of the garden. I moved these umbrellas to cover the dining table during our stay. THE OWNERS CLEARLY DID NOT APPRECIATE MY MOVING THEIR SUN UMBRELLAS. On our last morning we wanted to sit in the garden at the dinning table for a time before our departure. This was not possible unless we cared to sit in the blistering sun. In the wee hours the owners had moved the umbrellas back to the other side of the garden. We did not have the use of garden our last morning due to the umbrella issue.

The coffee systems in all 4 unites are useless unless you like drinking coffee with coffee grounds.

The 4th unit television broke and just displayed colored horizontal lines on the last night, so no television.

As we were packing our car to depart the Beatnik Hotel property the husband owner rode up on his bike and asked how we enjoyed our stay. I shared I had been robbed. He didn't seem to have a clue. I told him post robbery I learned this Beatnik Hotel area had the highest crime rate for the entire state. He disputed this fact. I said internet searches suggest the same. He said the internet is wrong. My take away this husband/wife owner team care only to have renters pay their mortgage, and nothing for the safety of their guests. As an unaware tourist I was never afforded the opportunity to be mindful and vigilant about my property at the Beatnik Hotel property, because the owners are in denial about the high property crime rate in their area and lack any concern for their guests safety suppressing the dangers lurking about their property. Guests should be alerted to this fact.
