Ichiban Oakhurst Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi — Restaurant in Ocean Township

Food is ok. The last few times I ordered the meal was ready less than 10 minutes from my ordering over the phone and the steak is always chewy and hard as well as the chicken.

I also find the drive through reps rude and even an hour and 30 min prior to closing they wanna rush you to pick up your order. This has happened to me 2x already...

I placed my order as well as my mom's who was picking up her food herself. I hung up phone and less than 5 min later someone called me from the restaurant in an agitated voice stating that my food was ready. I said ok I just placed the order ill be there in a few moments. I get there and the drive through person was rude and kept telling me to call my mom for her order.. at this point they still had a full hour before closing and she was three min behind me in her car ... they need to appreciate that people are willing to order from them during a pandemic and shouldn't be rushing when your not supposed to close until a certain time. I won't be ordering from here anymore and they also need to work on pushing out better quality food...

The hibachi side is great and a very fun experience. Is always amazing to see the throngs of people waiting to enjoy the hibachi experience because the service is prompt and the chefs are engaging and entertaining. The food is very large portions, everyone always goes home with leftovers, a great experience overall.

I've never tried the sushi restaurant side until this past weekend. The service was great, fast and attentive. We sat next to a really rude woman who berated the waitstaff, but they handled it very professionally and deescalated the situation quickly and the woman simply had to pipe down, so kudos to the staff for that.

We ordered assorted sushi and they came out not quite right. Presentation was messy, things were soggy and unfortunately both of us think we got food poisoning from it. May be a one off experience, I'm going to try it again since I do like the establishment very much and think this might be an...

I’ve been coming to Ichiban for years and never had an issue until today. I came in at 1:55, didn’t realize they closed at 2:30 which is my bad - but I didn’t anticipate being there passed 2:30 since I was on my lunch break for work and they’re always very quick with the food. They sat me and I looked at the menu for 30 seconds with the server standing two feet away from me. I took out my phone to search something up from the menu, and they came over and said “Are you ready to order?” I barely could get the words out that I was looking something up, before she told me I needed to be quick because they close at 2:30. I was like “Oh okay, should I just leave?” She just stared at me and didn’t say. I picked up my stuff and left, not wanting to feel like I was a bother. Maybe don’t seat people if you’re gonna tell them they “need to be quick”. Just uncomfortable, I would have rather been told they weren’t seating people than told I needed...
