Sunset Diner — Restaurant in Ocean Township

Hmmm... I've been coming here since I was a teeneager... I never thought I'd leave this review.... but this diner has gone to garbage.

First, roaches. Yep.... roaches on the wall... the floor... it happens in a restaurant, but when you see three roaches in 5 minutes... there's a problem.

Secondly, sanitation.... maybe after the roaches I noticed more and more but the place just felt dirty after this. I saw the one cook, he's always been great, but the other staff don't seem to care about anything.

Third, the staff.... they've always been a bit rough. Adds to the charm.... but we sat and aat and were ignored while they cursed and complained around. That's fine, but make sure you're doing it while helping your customers... I think they caught on and tried to compensate... which I appreciated... it just felt like we were on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares or Bar Rescue. Also, they guy working the register needs to respect boundaries....

I don't know if they're on the verge of closing and just don't care... but I brought a friend from out of town and was really embarrassed when she was counting roaches.

Please save this place, it was really sad to see this place in this state. Also, diners are dropping like flies around here.

As for the food... I was too grossed out to eat. We paid to support the business, but left without...

Moved into the area about 10 months ago. I used to live in Eatontown and would often go to All Seasons Diner. The food was good there and so was the service. I generally like to order for pickup at most diners. I have never eaten inside Sunset so my review is based on two experiences with ordering and picking up. The first time I ordered from them I promised I would never do it again. Was placed on hold forever and after I finally gave my order I was told it would be about 15-20 minutes. I show up a half hour later and my order wasnt ready. There was no one in the place so I knew it wasnt busy. I sucked it up as one bad experience and figured Id give them one more try. BTW.....the food was ok and nothing to rave amount. The second time I called I again was place on hold. This time I was on hold for about 10 minutes and could clearly hear the conversations going on in background. I heard someone say "Ill smack your ass" and some other unprofessional stuff from a business. This really angered me so I hung up. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM YOU EVER AGAIN. I dont know how you stay in business. I wish I wasnt so far away from the All Seasons Diner in Eatontown. This place is a dump and I will never.......EVER...

My friends & I eat at Sunset Diner at least a few times a month. It's our "Happy Place", as well as where we celebrate our birthdays. I've recently started bringing my 17 & 20yo niece and nephew when the elder is home from college. They LOVE it, and have asked if I'd mind sharing my, "Little Jewel" with them and their friends. (I was ecstatic!!) I 💕 that I'm already considered a regular. The service is wonderful (Love our Rosie!), always smiling, fast as lightning. The amount of food on your plate is more than generous, the prices reasonable, the quality well above par. We tried a different breakfast 🥞 joint on the recommendation of a friend, won't mention the name, but was really surprised how poorly they did in comparison to Sunset on all of the points I mentioned above. Won't deviate from our Sunset Diner anytime soon! Stop by sometime, take my word for it, you won't...
