Sunset Bagel Exchange — Restaurant in Ocean Township

My boyfriend and I would go to this place all the time. The fact that I am actually writing a review is unbelievable, I never write reviews but I felt compelled to express my anger and dissatisfaction with the service the female worker/ cashier and manager. If possible if I can rate this is zero or no star I would. I've never had an issue like this ever with any food/restaurant establishment. I ordered food from bagel exchange through DoorDash, which I typically do. I received a call from the lady working at bagel exchange Regarding my order, and informing me that I have made a mistake when placing my order. This would have been fine if she was talking to me in a calm, respectful and professional manner. However, she berated me, she was very belligerent, condescending and disrespectful when communicating her displeasure with the manner in which I (never had an issue before) my order. The entire time the exchange took place over the phone, I remained calm and composed in my communication delivery with her and she continued to talk over me and raise her voice. I had no issue with paying extra for whatever mistake occurred that I never had before when ordering from bagel exchange via DoorDash. Even after repeatedly reassuring this woman that I had no issue with paying additional for the add on she continued to shout over me and tell me how wrong I was because she couldn't figure out how to add the extra payment. After getting off the phone, I called back to speak to the manager and the manager sided with the belligerent cashier and did not even offer an apology for his workers negative behavior after calmly informing him of the situation. I am beyond disappointed with their service. I will never visit nor recommend bagel exchange to anyone...

My daughter placed an order with The Bagel Exchange on Uber Eats. A few minutes later we received a phone call from a very harsh loud man (the owner) telling us that they only had 1 of the 3 garlic bagels that we ordered so I asked him to refund me for the other 2 which he refused to do so I had to buy 2 bagels that I don’t like. He then asked my daughter if she wanted the chicken Caesar sandwich which is what she ordered on the app or if she wanted the chicken Caesar salad, my daughter replied that she wanted the chicken Caesar sandwich the owner said so you want the salad she said again no I want the sandwich, needless to say she got the salad. Next she mentioned that she put in a special request for a 1/2 pound of lox and cream cheese spread, he raised his voice at her and said “listen you can’t just do that, give me your credit card”. I took the phone and asked why do you need my credit card? He became extremely belligerent and actually yelled at me and said “you don’t expect me to give you locks and cream cheese spread for free do you?” I explained as calmly as I could that “we ordered it on Uber eats are you sure we didn’t get charged?” Again I was yelled at. So I didn’t get the locks and cream cheese spread. Anyway when the order got here I called him and told him that we got the chicken Caesar not the chicken sandwich he yelled at me again and said fine I will make up the sandwich I said and you’ll deliver it and he said “I’m not delivering it!” This turned into an argument and I got hung up on. I think everything about this place is great. In a place where bagel shops are a dime a dozen,this one stand out. Let's start with the bagels them selves. They on point. Fresh, with great variety. The lady behind the counter is amazing as well. She put me on hold and I hang up ready to call another place. Before I could dial she called me back and took my order. That's superior customer service. I'm glad she called back to, because I'd of just went to hole in one for the 11000 time and get mistreated by that grumpy lady behind the counter.
