I would not recommend this place to anyone. I used Opsin for contact lens services when they had an office in Walmart years ago. I had no issues then, went for my exam, paid for the exam, ordered the contacts, used my insurance etc.. I was in need of a new eye exam & lens prescription, so I opted to make an appointment with them again, now in their Oakhurst office (Orchard Plaza). I had scheduled an exam 2 weeks in advance, asking specific questions pertaining to the cost of the exam, how much my copay would be using VSP insurance. I was initially told $10 copay/$60 contact lens fitting fee. I had to change my appointment, so called again a week later. Again, reconfirming the costs ($10/$60). All was fine until I got to their office on the day of the appointment. Upon walking in, Reception pulled up my profile & advised that I would need to fill out new forms so they could update their records, which I did. I was then escorted into an exam room where they proceeded to tell me that not only was the contact fitting fee now going to be $85, but also that I had an outstanding balance of $55 from some insurance company from over 7 years ago which I never received invoices for that would have to be fulfilled in order to move forward with my exam. For the record, last time I got an exam was about 7 years ago, and both the exam copay and cost of lenses were paid up front in full. My insurance also fully covered my exam, so there was no balance. At this point you can assume my frustration as they had 2 weeks & multiple opportunities to make me aware of all of this information beforehand. I had been on the phone with them at least 3 separate times prior, & they chose to wait until I had my contacts out & seated in the exam room before telling me. I’m sorry, but I do not play that game. This tactic is shady, sneaky & in my opinion completely unprofessional. I explained to them that there was no reason all of this information could not have been mentioned beforehand, and that the last-minute price changes were a major turn-off. I took back my forms and walked out. Since I was in need of contacts, I then went to a different contact/glasses center to inquire about their pricing & was then advised that I would not be able to apply my VSP vision insurance because the folks at Opsin had entered my insurance through their system already, so it made it appear as through my benefits for the year had already been used. I was speechless & beyond agitated at this point. I was not about to call Opsin to correct this since they were already unbelievably unreliable, so I drove all the way back to confront them & asked them to remove the VSP inquiry & indicate that there were no services rendered. Do not use Opsin for your vision services. They will scam you & charge you more than what they quote you over the phone. I will no longer be using...
Read moreI was not happy with this place the moment I walked in and I should have followed my instinct. They did not offer a retina scan. The pediatric optometrist had no personality besides seeming like she had better places to be and bored. The girl who was teaching my son how to use contacts was very nice but did not wear them herself because she couldn't touch her eye but she's teaching my kid. My son was getting the contacts in quickly but he was having trouble getting them out. I wore contacts for decades and I know at first how hard it is. You need PRACTICE. They said four times and have to wait until next year. Really?? Cause a year is going to make that easier??? Absolutely ridiculous. Read moreI have been going to Opsin for as long as I have been wearing glasses. I have never had to publicly write a review like this before which upsets me. For years this place has had great service but my recent visit left me feeling so dehumanized. The lady helping me was very unprofessional, bossy, rude, and gave me the impression that she had better things to do than assist me. Once again — I’ve never had any issues here before.
