Wegmans — Local services in Ocean Township

No longer a fan of Wegmans. Twice in the past 2 weeks, I've encountered a very rude employee. One, cashier: after I waited in line for a good 5 minutes (busy evening at the store), the older female cashier looked up at me (at the end of the line) and yelled out, "I'm closed!" I turned to get the attention of the front end staff who usually monitor the lines, but they were nowhere around. I changed lines since there was no one to address the issue and turned out I checked out sooner in another line anyway. Two, a young, female supervisor tonight: I had a 100-count pack of Wegmans paper plates and knew the price was $5.99 because I compared it to a smaller pack of Dixie plates that were $8.49-ish. The scan machine & cashier were unable to pull up the price. The front end girl was called to the register and she said, "do you know how much they are?" I said "$5.99." She gave me a very nasty look...like that price was ridiculous, so I reminded her that they're Wegmans brand (not Dixie). She replied, "I don't think so" with an attitude & went off to the back of the store to check. In the meantime, the cashier tried a code that she thought would work & price came up $5.99. Aside from the rudeness, I hate that Wegmans replaces well-known brands with their own, inferior brand items. Back to...

Wegmans is hands down one of the best supermarkets out there! The quality of their products, the variety of fresh foods, and the overall shopping experience make it stand out from other grocery stores. Their produce is always fresh, their bakery section offers amazing bread and pastries, and the prepared food section is perfect for quick and delicious meals.

My experience was great! I went at about 7:30 on Sunday morning before Memorial Day. I needed to get a couple of cakes. I seriously needed a Reese's peanut butter cake and I found a Reese's peanut butter pie. I asked the woman that was putting out cakes right away so I wouldn't have to keep looking if they had a Reese's cake and she was very knowledgeable and said no but we have these chocolate peanut butter pies. It's a chocolate crust with a layer of peanut butter mousse and then a layer of chocolate mousse and a layer of whipped cream. It sounded good to me! She was very helpful. Then I went to the self-checkout and even though I was checking myself out the woman that was working at the self-checkout was unbelievably helpful! She was so nice. She saw I had two big cakes and got me some really big paper bags with handles to put them in and then chatted with me for a moment about how good the cakes looked.
