I don't know if this restaurant has changed hands, but I used to love this place. I just recently got food here, and was extremely disappointed. The girl at the register spoke so low, you could not even hear what she was saying half the time. I ordered 2 hamburgers, 2 postals, and 2 coxinhas. I paid $54 and waited 45 minutes to get my food. Which both the price and the wait time was ridiculous. The worst part is, never judge a book by its cover, because the manager obviously didn't realize this white girl speaks perfect Portuguese. I had asked for some garlic sauce to go with my pastels, and after waiting 45 minutes for my food, I realized I did not have any. So I asked someone who work there to get it for me. While standing there waiting for it, the manager comes out and says in Portuguese, "what is this lady waiting for, she already has her food". In a very bad attitude voice. When I replied what I was waiting for in Portuguese, her attitude changed and all of a sudden was nice because she knew I had just understood what she said and how she said it. Needless to say, after paying $54, waiting 45 minutes for my food, another 15 minutes 4 garlic sauce and then to hear somebody asked a question about me to her employee in that manner, I will never go do...
Read moreI would like to start by saying that I consider myself a customer of Coxinhas and that it does not bring me any satisfaction to give a bad review to any business. However, I thought that a had to make known to people what happened to me, today, at Coxinhas Bakery at Colonial Drive. I ordered, over the phone, 100 coxinhas on 3 different flavors, that cost $45.00 (per 100 coxinhas) + tax, what will bring it to around $48.00. I asked them if they could separate the flavors in 3 different boxes, which would help identify the different flavors. I have done the same thing a few other times without any problem, whatsoever. When I arrive to pick my order, I was charged $66.00, that is almost $20.00 more than the price for 100 coxinhas. When I asked why, the answer was that the almost $20.00 extra was because of the 2 extra boxes that they had to use to separate the 3 flavors. Then I asked: Almost $10.00 for a box of a very thin carton? The answer was that they bring the boxes from Brazil and that was the way. That means that I was charged almost $20.00 for two extra boxes to carry the coxinhas. I do not remember having order food for pick up and being charged for the container in any other restaurant, even less being charged an absurd price for a container. All I can say is that, unfortunately, I felt like I was being robbed right there and then. This is just to let people know that, it seems, that they have to be very careful when they order something, over the phone, at Coxinhas Bakery.
Read moreI’m always looking for new & exciting things to try so when I found out about Coxinhas (on the NEWS) I ran right there! They make everything in-house, the food was fresh, restaurant was clean, staff explained menu items as I was not familiar with everything. They are still working out the kinks it’s a new business so be patient with them… it’s definitely worth it! The owner was still training & overseeing, he was very friendly to patrons; even seemed to already have “regulars”.
They have an extensive selection of Brazilian handheld snacks, great for on the run working people. Everything I tried was amazing. Super tasty & the textures were nothing like I’ve ever had. Coxinhas are deep fried, crispy on the outside doughy inside stuffed with a variety of fillings like chicken & beef they had at least 5 different combinations when I ordered… soooooo good! I also tried a hearts of palm pie and a stuffed bread which are baked. I can’t wait to go back & try the pastels which are...
