I truly have never been treated so rudely. Let me explain: I was hosting Mother’s Day so I wanted to order some delicious croissants. I called on Tuesday and no one answered so I left a message. Someone called me right back and took my order. I said I would pick up on Saturday morning. All good. As I have done before, on Saturday morning, i drove from Wales, pulled up, curbside, and a woman came out and asked for my name. There was a short line of people waiting outside so I was glad I called ahead. The woman came back out and asked my name again and then said I must not have called ahead. Hmmm. I gave her my name again and also wanted to give my credit card. At this, the woman, in front of the waiting customers, said “You should have paid over the phone, now these people have to wait”. I certainly would have paid over the phone if someone would have asked for it. Well, she came back out a third time, gave me my card and said I must not have ordered. There is no order for my name. She turned and started helping another customer. I sat in my car for a bit trying to process what happened then slowly drove away with no croissants. I ended up going to Dunkin Donuts and was given my order with a thanks and a smile. Will never go to Fresh Baked again.
Follow up to this post is... after I stopped and picked up donuts and got home they called to tell me they had my order. I had paid for it after all. They apologized and offered to drive the order to me. I just...
Read moreFresh Baked We are always on the hunt for delicious baked goods. Most of the time they are closer to the “big cities”, so you can’t imagine how excited we were to hear that Fresh Baked was opening in Oconomowoc. Just 15 minutes away, I had to prepare to gain some weight! We have now visited a couple of times and everything is delicious. Like so delicious! When you walk in the scent of backed dough reaches you and you instantly feel hungry. If you stop on the weekend or mid morning expect a wait. The first time we stopped the line was out the door onto the sidewalk. The best time to stop would be right when they open, once they sell out (which could be quick) they are done. To be fair the place is pretty small, but they have utilized the space incredibly well. The bakery specializes in French baked goods. The best thing is by far their chocolate brioche bread. To Die For. They also bake croissants. Always have different flavors, from almond, to brie, to guava. Always a good variety. The price is a little high, but the quality is on point. You can literally watch them making the baked goods while you buy the treats. The chocolate brioche is our favorite, but we have yet to dislike anything that we have ordered. Again, so glad this little bakery has opened up so close. But now we have to practice self control. Parking lot around the corner. $$$ 4.5...
Read moreFirst time at this location. It’s a nice spot in downtown Oconomowoc. No street parking here, but there are a couple of public parking lots close by. A couple of small café tables out front. Big glass windows let in lots of natural light. Inside, there are tables for small groups along with a couch. It has a nice, casual feel.
Came with a friend early in the morning. Got a friendly greeting from the barista. Ordered a London Fog Tea Latte (a little lavender, a little vanilla, extra foam). They don’t serve drinks in mugs, so I had to settle for a paper cup (not my favorite). They have a large assortment of croissants to choose from — I picked the Blueberry Cream. They didn’t have other bakery items (no muffins, no scones).
There was only one person working, but they did a good job keeping up with the slow stream of customers. They seemed to handle the rush just fine, with a pleasant smile for everyone.
The drinks and pastries were very good. Most people who came in got their drinks to go, but a few stayed inside. The noise level was good, which made for a nice...
