Chila's Tacos — Restaurant in Ogden

I honestly question anyone who calls these "the best tacos ever". The food was so bad, I ended up throwing most of it away.

We ordered several carne asada tacos; a couple lengua tacos; and a carne asada burrito.

The meat was so dry and overcooked, it was honestly like eating a beef jerky taco. Here's a tip: Carne asada is not supposed to be crunchy! The only saving grace were the onions and cilantro, which helped mask the flavor of the horrible meat. I had to practically choke down the burrito; it was dry, crunchy and completely over salted.

My wife and I lived in San Diego for 30 years. Being that close to the Mexican border, we've had our fair share of amazing Mexican food. We've even found a couple of amazing Mexican restaurants here in Ogden and surrounding areas that serve some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. (Lupita Taco, I'm talk about you!!)

I just don't understand the 4 star+ reviews from others. Nothing about the food was redeemable. Absolutely nothing. At this point, Del Taco has this place beat, hands down.

I hate throwing food away, but I didn't really have a problem throwing most of our order in the garbage.

We will definitely not be back, as there are far better options around. I only gave 1 star because giving zero stars was not an option.

Order to take out .. it gets pretty packed in there.. I hate that there are lots of flies around.. I accidentally knocked off a plate of food while the server was serving it to us in our table yes because of the stupid flies that was trying to get on my food. It's very unfortunate tho.. that's the reason I don't go a lot unless I really really want some good sopes.. other then that.. I rather go to a better less crowded place and of course without the flies believe me when I say this I'm not talking about 2 or 3 flies.. maybe more then 10!! When I have extreme cravings for chilaquiles I go here. I love the choices of meat that you can put on top and you can get eggs and you can get red or green sauce. Everything was packed with flavor. The two salsas those were actually tasty the red one was very picoso. The chile relleno the sauce had so much flavor. And nothing was cold. The bisteak was seasoned perfectly it tasted so bomb. The egg and the chilaquiles complimented each other, the sauce I couldn't get enough of it. The rice and beans even had flavor. Everything was packaged nice and neat.
