El Pollo Rico — Restaurant in Ogden

This place is great! It’s definitely a place I would like to eat at again. The chicken is so good. Anything on the right side of the menu is made with chicken and the left side made with beef. We got the tamales, gorditas, and enchiladas and they were all great. The tamale was good flavor but mild enough for kids. They also have hamburgers and fries so we got a couple of those for the kids as well. Everyone loved their food. The only recommendation for new customers is to get horchata. I pass by here weekly and finally decided to give it a try. I wasn't really impressed. I don't mean to be rude and obviously others liked it, but I did not.

The staff was professional and nice, spoke english and spanish very well, it was relatively clean and modern and didn't take tooo long.

That said, the chicken was really dry and blah flavor, and the rice was bland and crumbly. It was also expensive for what you got. I was hoping for an authentic style restaurant, but it wasn't. El pollo loco is more authentic.

I ordered the Pollo family special for $23.99. I told them that I didn't need sodas because we didn't drink soda. She asked me if I wanted more tortillas, I said that would be very nice. I paid with a visa. The total charged to my card is $36.96. They have a small hand written notice that there is a surcharge for using a card. I was expecting it to be 3-5%, not over 30%.
