We hit the rooftop deck, and I gotta say…vibe check: passed. Cool views, mountain air, chill techno floating in the background like your buddy’s European cousin took over the playlist. 10/10 ambiance for a summer night.
Now, food rundown: We started with the dry-rubbed wings, which I think were technically dessert. I don’t know who hurt the chef, but he’s healing through sugar. Rubbed in what I can only describe as brown sugar and childhood trauma. Tasty, but I could feel my pancreas flinch.
I had the salmon entrée (because I contain multitudes). It was epic: crispy skin, perfectly cooked, and paired with tater tots like a Michelin-starred lunch lady made it just for me. Caesar salad was fresh, punchy, not overdressed. Only downside? Sauce on the salmon was a bit on the sweet side. Chef Sweet Tooth strikes again!
My wife got the Angry Goat burger. Nailed medium rare. Burger was rich, flavorful, and funky in the best way thanks to the goat cheese. But then… the bacon. Also sweet. C’mon, Mom. Somebody let this chef eat a bowl of sugary cereal in the morning so he doesn’t try to mainline maple syrup into every entrée by the time he’s 40.
Service? Flawless. Chris and Nicole ran the floor like pros. Chris has definitely seen the inside of a white tablecloth joint - great with recs, read the table like a therapist, and vanished exactly when he should. Nicole kept it smooth and steady. Felt taken care of without being hovered over.
Also worth noting: the crowd on the rooftop was about 94% empty-nest couples, all giving each other those “we should be friends but forgot how” glances over their drinks. It was like a mixer for people who’ve been married 25 years and just want someone to talk about hiking boots and cholesterol with.
Final score: Food – 8.4/10 (would be a 9 if the chef detoxed from sugar for a week) Service – 10/10 Atmosphere – Rooftop ruled. Vibes were strong. Music made us feel cooler than we are.
We’ll be back…maybe with unsweetened bacon in our pocket and a bingo card for awkward...
Read moreI can't even begin on how horrible our experience was. I was with three other people. I managed to get us a few seats on the patio when Silence The Critic was playing, since it's our friends band, and yet they wouldn't let my three other friends up to at least check to see if some seats were available, but yet they let me up to check. How is that fair? Not only that, but the tables up on the patio are so big and bulky, that there is barely any room regardless.
That aside, I decided to join my friends down below, since they had a table downstairs. I sat down, after they had already been there for five minutes, and all we got was water. That's it. We probably had three or four people walk past us, and they had 6 staff members bussing tables, but not one person decided to stop and see if we wanted a drink. We waited for 15 minutes to be seen by one of the staff, but all they did was pretend that we didn't exist, and that the tables with nobody there were more important than us. There were even two staff members that were standing around doing NOTHING while we waited to get a drink.
When we decided to finally leave, one of the staff members went to the other and said something along the lines of "They are finally leaving" and the other staff member said "I know." and that was that. They didn't try to stop us. They didn't try to apologize and help us. They just let us leave.
We went to Harp and Hound, and they had a beer in our hands in less then a minute, and apparently they get complaints regarding Angry Goat constantly, which is not a good sign at all.
I think its safe to say that unless they get their staff and everything else together, and have them prepared for when an event is going on, me and my friends will not be giving this place our business from now on. The complete disregard for paying customers is absolutely unheard of, and there are many other places that are happy to serve those who are willing to pay,...
Read moreMy husband and I were celebrating our 1 year anniversary and decided to eat at The Angry Goat and then play arcade games at The L.A.B just down the road. It was the perfect date!
We were instantly greeted and seated when we walked in to The Angry Goat. The ambience was casual/relaxed and exactly what we were looking for. The decor was hilarious and they had a couple of TVs to watch during your meal.
The drink menu was huge, so it took us a bit to pick a drink, but we finally made a decision. My husband ordered a whiskey sour and I ordered the peach tea (alcoholic). Both were delicious! My husband ended up ordering another whiskey sour while I tried a jalapeño watermelon margarita. The salted rim balanced out the sweet and made it a phenomenal drink!
We ordered two appetizers, the goat balls and the spinach artichoke dip. The goat balls were good and came with a spicy sauce. The spinach and artichoke dip was the best I’ve ever had. For entrees we both ordered the angry goat burger, but he got fries and I got sweet potato tots. His burger was medium and mine was medium well, but both were extremely juicy and full of flavor (and a little messy). The caramelized bacon on the burger is out of this world! I could eat a plate of just that! Our waitress said that if we come for brunch, we could order a Bloody Mary with the bacon. We’ll have to stop by for brunch! The fries were really good, but the sweet potato tots were amazing!!! I’m going to get those every time!
Our waitress was so sweet! I loved how she brought us extra napkins before we even started our meal because I definitely needed them after that juicy burger. She also let us know where the bathrooms were located before we were even seated, which I greatly appreciated. I had to wash my hands after devouring that burger.
The food, drinks, and service were phenomenal! We are already planning...
