I normally don’t speak out, and I am not a complainer, but I want to address the issue that my family and many others are having with this restaurant. I have been coming to Fred’s my entire life. Fred’s has always been my family’s “go to” spot sometimes multiple days a week. I would even go as far to say we have probably spent more time, and money there than any other customer. We have loved their food from day one. During this time we did become close with the owners and they became very close family friends of ours. Of course, when we heard they were going to be selling, and it would be under new ownership, we had our concerns but were reassured that nothing would change. We of course hoped for the very best and if it was time for new owners then so be it! We felt confident they would not change the food because “Fred’s is Fred’s” and that just wouldn’t be a smart business decision. With all of that said, Fred’s is not Fred’s any longer. My family has been nothing short of devastated at the changes that have been made in the food. After being told that nothing would change, everything has. The new owners have taken this restaurant and made it something completely different. I refuse to call it “Fred’s” any longer. To take this iconic restaurant that has been so successful and a place Wheelersburg is known for, is absurd. Fred’s pizza was known for their amazing Pizza, subs, loaded fries, pasta, and so much more. None of these things listed are even remotely the same as they used to be. Even things as little as their ranch, condiments, etc have completely changed. The new owners also own another restaurant located in Portsmouth (Patties and Pints) that is known for THEIR food which personally I have never cared much for. Fred’s is slowing becoming that restaurant little by little. If people want “Pattie’s and Pints”, they will go to Pattie’s and Pints, not “Fred’s”. I am very disappointed in what the new owners have done and to me it is disrespectful to the previous owners, and our community who have loved Fred’s from day one. There’s a popular saying “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” and this is the perfect scenario for that. They are trying to fix something that was never broken and myself, along with many many others are very disappointed and disgusted at what is being done to this place. We want “Fred’s” back in Wheelersburg and for “Pattie’s and Pints” to stay...
Read moreI am a Dasher and I have to say this is one of the worst restaurants to get sent an order for. Tonight I waited 40 mins for 2 spaghetti dinners for a customer, only to finally be told to contact the customer and ask them if they want anything else because they had an issue with the sphagetti! Why did that take 40 minutes?! I lost money waiting for nothing. I am always waiting 20+ minutes past the pickup time for orders at this store.
The staff argue with each other when they're busy. There's a dude that always seems to have an attitude towards everyone that also throws pizza pans across the room. There's another dude that wears a glove all the time that cashes people out with those gloves on and wipes the sweat from his face with those gloves on then goes right back to preparing food... never changing his contaminated gloves. I am ServSafe certified and I would NEVER ever eat at this location just from what I've seen waiting to pick up DoorDash orders. This place takes the cake on wasting a Dashers time.
One time I was standing there for 10 mins and finally had to call someone over to tell them their pizzas were burning in the oven! I constantly have to tell THEM what all is on the order that I'm picking up for DoorDash. It's not my job to tell Fred's employees how to do their job.
I would LOVE to have orders for this location blocked from being sent to me. I guess I'll just be declining any future orders because I am sick of losing money waiting here. Restaurants receive the order before the Dasher is summoned. I'm also a former GM of a restaurant, I know how it works on both sides.
People be warned. Your food is contaminated before it goes in AND after it comes out of the oven at Fred's. Places like this is the exact reason I had to get out of working in food service. I don't have eyes in the back of my head to see everyone and everything at all times.
I have never eaten here and I never will. I'd rather...

The atmosphere is very unique. It reminds me, personally, of a 90s (almost toy story movie, haha) pizza joint.
The staff was very responsive and polite.
The serving sizes are delicious and huge.
While I was here, I tried the Pizza(14"), (Family sized) Onion rings, and pepperoni bread.
Others at my table got Stromboli sandwich and the steak sandwich, and they swear by them. Another got the taco salad in cool bowl, and a hot fudge sundae (shown in the standing bowl in my pics)
The onion rings breading is sweet. The onion rings themselves are thin and a bit floppy, but, make no mistake, are delicious!
The pepperoni bread introduced me to their sauce for the first time. Their sauce is neutral-sweet; Not too sweet, or savory. The pepperoni bread is great. A solid bite of mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and breading with an acceptable amount of sauce on the side.
The pizza was delicious as well, I got the thicker crust and am curious on the difference between the thick and thin crust. I'm sure I will go back another time to try the thin crust, but, I digress. The crust is nice, crispy, and doesn't cause the pizza to get floppy at all, which is a positive in my book. The pizza is served on a wire recessed basket on, what seems to be, the pizza pan it came off of while baking.
An overall great experience. Everything from the atmosphere, to the staff, to the food. Great job guys and keep up the good work! 5/5...
