This place has excellent burgers and their little convenience stores are awesome!
I had been hauling around extra pounds since the pandemic.
I retired to OKC July of 2021-by September I weighed 194-as I'm only 5'7" this was unacceptable!
I set about to lose the weight.
I'm a good cook, frugal (cheap³) and have never considered "fast food" to be either fast (nor even food) so avoiding it was no issue.
Once I'd lost 15 pounds I decided to treat myself with a burger.
I had never seen or been to a Braum's, but I had wondered about them.
As I frequently go to Goodwill at Britton and May to drop off my big clothes and find smaller ones or (whatever) I had passed this Braum's on May many times.
I went in, and what first struck me was the cleanliness.
I'm no "neat freak" but served in the USNavy and USArmy. I do value maintaining everything in it's place and clean.
It appeared spotless, and the employees were attired as though their appearance mattered as much as keeping the place up to a very high standard.
I first examined the convenience store and found it had much to offer, at fairly reasonable prices. -Again, I am cheap, cheap, cheap, but they did have a good selection.
Having perused the little store I went and looked over the burger menu.
All of the employees I encountered were polite and courteous and seemed happy to be there. That was as much a shock as how neat and tidy everything was!
During the pandemic, customer service hit a new low across our nation so it was refreshing to feel like I wasn't an interruption.
I ordered the jalapeño burger. I found the price to be fair, and the burger was large enough.
I walked out to my car, and my intention was to just look at it to see if it looked like the amazing pictures on the menu board. It not only looked like the picture, it was a perfectly crafted burger like somebody's mom might have made in the 1970s for a July 4th barbecue.
It wasn't sloppy, it was literally perfect.
I thought I would take a bite, and then finish it at home.
I figured: "if the price is good, and the burger looks perfect than there's got to be a catch. " 【There wasn't】
I never even made it out of the parking lot before the burger was gone. I ate it slowly and every single bite was exquisite. Yes! Exquisite! Beyond excellence ! It was evident that whoever made it took it very seriously.
I just sat in the Braum's parking lot eating that hamburger more and more slowly to savor every morsel.
I was so sad when the experience ended that I contemplated going through the drive through for another.
I literally sat there pondering this, but realized that although it might be awesome, it was obviously quite counter productive from my diet's perspective.
So I drove home, in a satisfied reverie.
Now, a year later, I've lost 44 pounds and have been back to this Braum's several times since. Each time the experience is identical: -the place seems clean to 1980 USNAVY boot camp standards
-the employees here are always cheerful, friendly, and engaged -the service is fast and efficient -the price is right -the burgers look like the pictures -the flavor is just right
I don't know if Braum's has access to a time machine to find employees, but to say the least, I am always impressed that the staff care about how well they represent this "quick service restaurant" and the product and service they provide to the public.
I can't offer any more stars, but I will say: KUDOS ! -
You do an excellent job here. -Attention to detail -Service -Product -Staff -Cleanliness
All were impressive !
Granted, I ate no fries, because at home I cube and airfry sweet potatoes several times a week in olive oil with red pepper and curry powder. Eating fries cooked in oil is therefore always disappointing.
Although my review only references your jalapeño burger, it's the epitome of what a jalapeño burger should be-that's good enough for me !
-Thank You ! -
It gives me hope just knowing that such a fine establishment still...
Read moreOrdered a #4 with a large fry and large drink and another meal. I noticed just a large fry and drink and the second meal but he was still editing the screen and told me my total. Go to the first window she starts to tell me the order, I said it should be a #4 and a #13, she said I didn’t take your order I guess that’s what he put. So I pay get my receipt and it’s not right but she didn’t seem to care and it could’ve been fixed then since I repeated what it should hv been. Get to the 2nd window she asks for my receipt didn’t say why. Then hands me a drink then the bag. I have to tell her there’s a 2nd drink even though she has my receipt and it’s on their screen. Still never said why they asked for my receipt but she gave it back. I was going to just ask them to place another order for the burger by itself but decided to just go back around. Both times long lines. I order just the burger this time, get to the first window, she asks what I ordered. I told her she closes the window then walks away. Comes back and says the computer is frozen and closes the window. So I’m sitting there, shift manager comes over they both look at the screen he walks away. Then she says I have to come in because the computer is frozen. I ask if the computer inside works and if they can ring the order up there. She says something about them having to ring it up or some then she tells them on the headset that I was asking about them ringing it up inside. There’s about 5-6 cars behind me none in front at this point. So I just drive around to park. They ended up just ringing people up from the computers at the counter as I see the same person running back and forth. I didn’t make a big deal out of them not getting the order right or even attempting to the first time but I guess I should have so I didn’t have to deal with the headache and waste more time in line. It wasn’t even for me but I just ended up not even eating and gave the person who actually wanted the #4 what I ordered. I didn’t want anything free, just wanted what I ordered. What’s the point of verifying the order at the first window if they can’t fix it? Why not do that when...
Read moreThis store has been here since the 1980's and has been nicely refurbished. Their stock is fresh, but it is wierd that the whipping cream and the half and half seem to disappear from shelves or are never in stock. The flooring in the main dining area is often marked with wet floor signs, but it seems odd this is an issue at all. The rubber floors in the shopping area provide more traction and hide dirt. Great prices on fresh avocados. Nuts from TEXAS are plentiful, fresh and in a variety of forms. I dk why the OKLAHOMA crop was poor this year, but these Texas nuts are dreamy for snacking or for baking or whatever. This shop often has artisan bread loaves on sale, which suits me and my family fine. They have fresh and frozen foods which is a nice mix, too. I don't shop here for everything, but it's true many people in the area can ONLY get to this market or restaurant, and so it is good they hire students, retirees, and locals I guess of all kinds. Staff is kind, and always ready to help sales go thru. My old college boyfriend lived in the area, Scott E. Johnson and his family and they frequented this shop long before I even knew it was a thing... this Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy store is a burger shop...
