I would give a way higher rating, but after last night I figured I would go out of my way to leave this negative review.
I enjoy this place the food is always good, however what I don’t like is that ONE waiter. He’s this older gentleman and last night he was very rude and his service was very poor. Not only does he constantly get orders wrong because he refuses to write down anything, he will refuse to give you a refill if you have any kind of soda. Last night he told me to drink more water, and said, “Let me give you some more water” and poured water into my sisters half drink of coke.
I had to ask an other waiter to give me a refill and god bless her kind soul she actually did the bare minimum which is doing her job. Surprise, surprise! And yes, refills are free. That’s exactly why they don’t want you to get refills. 🙄
Not did this waiter get my order wrong but he gave my dad a COMPLETELY different meal than what he had asked for. My parents are very kind people and they didn’t complain, he’s lucky because I would’ve complained right to this waiters face.
Now, I get mistakes trust me I do. The problem here is that every time me and my family have come here and that man is our waiter he always, ALWAYS get someone’s food wrong. He also REFUSES to give refills. It’s not right.
Anyway, what’s worse is that my mother complained to the manager and all he had to say was: “we are under staff 🥺…👉👈” Literally hire me LMAO I would do a WAYYY better job than that waiter and I will show you being under staff doesn’t excuse being rude and disrespectful.
My mother promptly said we weren’t coming back (we are recurring customers) and the manager just said “I’m sorry” and walked away. I know he doesn’t care and that’s okay!! ☺️
We tipped the waiter 0$ for his horrible work, I’m so happy we are never coming back so I never have to see that man again.
The bathrooms are always dirty btw….
The food is good tho, I ate it all even when my order was wrong BAHA!! I usually get Beans and rice but the waiter got me rice and rice for some reason (jk I know why it’s because he can’t bother to write anything down) so here’s a picture of what I usually get and last nights meal of when he got my...
Read moreI’ve eaten at this Chelino’s location (6509 NW Expressway, OKC) several times, and every visit has been consistently excellent. The service is always friendly and attentive, and the food never disappoints. Their chips, salsa, and cheese dip are absolutely delicious — in fact, I’d say they have one of the best tomato salsas in Oklahoma City. It’s packed with flavor and perfectly balanced without being overly salty.
I’ve tried a variety of dishes from their breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, and I’ve always walked away satisfied. On my most recent visit, I noticed they’ve updated their menu (see photo), and I tried the Pollo a la Diabla. I was blown away by how generous the portion of chicken breast was, and the flavor was amazing — spicy, bold, and just right. The Borracho beans were a great touch too, with smoky bacon and sausage that added depth you just don’t get from regular pinto beans. And don’t get me started on the rice — it’s so homemade and comforting, it reminded me of my mom’s cooking. Their fresh flour tortillas are also a standout.
Chelino’s has a great selection of beers and margaritas, though I personally stick with their refreshing, unsweetened iced tea. Whether you’re looking for a hearty meal or a place to relax with friends and family, this spot delivers every time.
It’s also worth noting that Chelino’s is a proud local business with several locations throughout OKC. Some are run directly by Chelino himself and others by family members. I’ve had the privilege of meeting Chelino — a kind, charismatic, and faith-filled man who’s been a staple in the community since the 1980s. Supporting this business means supporting a legacy of hospitality, tradition, and heart.
If you’re looking for amazing Mexican food and genuine hospitality, don’t miss this Chelino’s — especially the one on Northwest Expressway. It’s hands-down my...
Read moreCame here with a total of 15 people including six kids under the age of 13 without a reservation after my grandmother's funeral. When we arrived one person in our party quickly ran in to let them know that we were coming in and by the time the rest of us piled out of our cars and walked in they already had the tables together and were working on getting the chips and salsas out. Granted we came in when they weren't' busy but we were quickly taken care of. Our server was friendly and professional and took good care of us. I don't think anyone at the table went thirsty once the drink orders were made. Our food was made quickly and it was all correct. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, and even with some of the kids running around (ugh) the staff didn't blink an eye. Our server asked if the bill was going to be split once we were all full and got everyone's tickets out to be paid. Maybe it is the software in their POS system that makes it easy to split the tab but it didn't seem to phase him that the tab was split five ways. I wish I could remember the server's name, because he was excellent and made sure everyone was happy without even breaking a sweat, and if we did drive him crazy he never showed it to us. It made for a nice meal and nice time for such a somber occasion. This is the second Chilinos I have been to, and both of these locations have provided excellent service. I can not speak for the rest of my party, but the food I had (guacamole salad and the chips, salsa, special salsa and flour tortillas) was all good and tasted fresh. I highly recommend them. Especially if you have a...
