If you’re searching for a pizza joint that can simultaneously transport you to the bustling streets of Harlem while firmly rooting you in the heart of Oklahoma, look no further than Dado’s Pizza. With its unassuming storefront tucked away in northwest Oklahoma City, this gem delivers an experience that’s far more than just pizza—it’s a slice of joy, nostalgia, and culinary magic.
The moment you step inside, you’re hit with an unmistakable New York authenticity. The shotgun-style layout—a hallmark of classic city eateries—is cozy and inviting. From the clatter of pizza pans to the heady aroma of fresh pies emerging from the oven, every sense is awakened. The seating is modest but welcoming: a couple of tables upfront for the quick grab-and-go crowd and a quaint dining space in the back for those who want to linger a bit longer.
But let’s get to the main event: the pizza. I’ll make this simple—order every slice they offer. Yes, every single one. Each slice at Dado’s is a masterpiece in its own right, crafted with a balance of flavor and texture that feels effortless yet extraordinary. Whether you’re a purist who sticks to a classic cheese or an adventurer seeking bold toppings, Dado’s delivers on all fronts. It’s the kind of pizza that ruins all other pizzas because nothing else compares. You’ll crave a second slice even when you’re stuffed, and if you’ve tried them all, you’ll find yourself fantasizing about the next time you can do it all over again.
Beyond the food, the staff makes Dado’s a standout. They’re friendly, attentive, and, dare I say, part of the magic. You’re not just a customer here—you’re family. Add in their New York City-style water filtration system (yes, it’s a real thing), which elevates both their soda and their dough to heavenly levels, and you start to understand why this place is in a league of its own.
My journey to finding the perfect pizza spot has been a long one. As a Florida native and a 10-year military veteran, I’ve traveled far and wide, sampling pies from coast to coast. Moving to Oklahoma, I struggled to find a pizza place that felt like “my place.” Then a friend recommended Dado’s, and my life hasn’t been the same since. I’m convinced their pizza has magical, mood-lifting properties—it’s a cure for bad days, a celebration for good ones, and everything in between.
So, if you’re reading this and wondering whether Dado’s is worth it, let me save you the trouble: yes, it absolutely is. Whether you’re a pizza connoisseur or just someone who loves a great meal, Dado’s is the kind of place that leaves an imprint on your soul. It’s not just Oklahoma’s best pizza—it’s one of the best pizza experiences, period. Go. Eat....
Read moreDado's was on my list of restaurants to try for a while and today was a pizza kinda day. So this was my first time visiting. The look and feel of the place is of a good pizza joint, the kind I grew up in and my brother still runs in the northeast. Smells like a mix of sauce, garlic, and dough crisping in the oven. Like how I imagine the kitchens in Heaven smell like. We were greeted by a friendly guy wearing a flour covered apron and a backward baseball cap. Every good pizza joint needs a friendly guy with a flour covered apron and a backward baseball cap. It felt right. He gave us the rundown on the menu and the specials for the day. My wife had a slice of Margherita and I had Pepperoni. We also got five Garlic Knots and even some Zeppoles, because fried carbs and powder sugar, y'know? Can't beat it. Added a couple of drinks and it came out to $28, before tip. Very reasonable. I could tell this was proper hand-stretched dough. It was thin and crispy, but didn't collapse when folded. The "correct" pepperoni too - the kind that curls up and crisps nicely in the oven. I would have liked the crust to be a bit more chewy like a typical New York slice, but I understand how local weather and temperature affects these things greatly, so no big deal. Overall, the flavor on both was right on. The Garlic Knots were good, but could have used more garlic. Honestly though, I tend to measure garlic in handfuls when I cook, so this might just be personal preference. They were paired well with red sauce on the side. The Zeppoles were absolutely delicious. Light yet chewy and generously covered in powdered sugar, served in a brown paper bag - as the good Lord intended they should be. It's a good thing I like my wife because I seriously considered not splitting the fifth one with her and just shoving it into my gob like the fat kid that I am. Clearly, I was pleased with my visit today. We will be back and will encourage others to give...
Read moreFinally got to try Dado’s! We ordered online a pepperoni pizza and a garlic bread with cheese, from placing the order to pick-up was very reasonable. I was a little taken back by the price of the pizza, but when I saw the size it was justified. It’s very large, so make sure you and your friends are hungry!
Overall the pizza was fantastic, however I personally would of liked the crust a little more crispy on the bottom, it was a little soggy and floppy for my liking, but that’s just a personal opinion. I’m unsure if a “well-done” option is available or allowed. 😂
The cheese covered garlic knots were delicious, not too much else to say other than I highly recommend giving them a try with the red tomato sauce.
The 3 guys behind the counter were super friendly and willing to answer any questions I might have had. I arrived a few minutes before my pickup time and they let me know it would be about 4 more minutes. They were spot on, gave me my food and I was on my way.
Overall, I would recommend Dado’s for a high quality pizza when you’re looking for more than your standard pizza chain down the street. While the prices seem high at first, they’re very reasonable...
