I’m not a huge donut fan, however Hurts Donut is a Springfield based business started by a husband and wife team. Their motto is that they are open”25 hours a day, and 8 days a week”. The business was started about three years ago, and has grown like a wildfire. Recently they began franchising the business, and it is quickly spreading around the Midwest. Even with this sudden success, the owners still run the business with a heart for communities. On many Wednesdays they travel to neighboring cities. Here they will conduct pop-up sales, with the profits going to charities. They usually give advance notice through social media. They also wait to start selling until local breakfast restaurants have finished their morning rush. In Iowa, they raised $28,000 for the families of two police officers who had been killed in an ambush attack. Their franchise partners all participate in the charitable side of the business, as well. Of course theirs one located along Route 66 so we had to stop and check it out along with the rest of the mid town area. The sugary treats are not anywhere near a health food. That doesn’t stop people from dropping in and picking up one or even a dozen. During our visit, we noticed a non-stop line of patrons waiting for their turn. We didn’t mind the short wait, since it gave us more time to survey the selection.

I’m posting this kinda a few months later than I had actually gone in, but I was scrolling through some pictures and remembered how amazing this experience was! So I’m posting to say thank you for an amazing experience! I brought my friend here from out of town to experience these doughnuts! I had never been in their location before, only had ever eaten the doughnuts through a catering they did for my sisters wedding. The pope hats on the light fixtures 🤌🏽 💋! The details and cohesive branding! The mini pies!! 🤌🏽💋! The amazing woman working the counter, icing the doughnuts, selling the doughnuts, making fresh coffee for us, running her business like a boss, (I believe it was take your daughter to work day, and she was just as epic as her mom! ) kudos to you ma’am! 🙌🏽 You have raised the bar and did it effortlessly! with passion, ease and detail! You 👏🏽did 👏🏽ALL👏🏽 of 👏🏽that👏🏽!! And did it on em! Cause that experience (and doughnuts) was fire!! Thank you!

As tourists, we giggled when we stumbled upon this place - then popped in for some post dinner donut dessert. Lots of flavors/creations. Not the very best donut I've ever had - but certainly worthy and delicious in their own right. The cake donuts were a little bit dry for our tastes, but still, they were edible. We're more of yeast donut people anyways. These are fun donuts! And they still tasted/appeared fresh even at 7pm. We did get 'upsold' with "for a dollar more you can have 6 donuts instead of 4!" - and are not ashamed we accepted that proposition. Enjoyed the vibe of the place - even though being the only customers there at an odd time of day for donuts made the initial walk into the big cavernous room a bit off putting. But, we were soon greeted by a young man who guided us in donut selection. Also, awesome donut emergency truck dudes.

The selection of donuts was great. The store was clean, and well kept. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The price was decent for everything that we purchased. This was our first time visiting after hearing about how amazing the donuts were. We had tried visiting the one in Norman a couple times, but it was usually during a busy time. This made finding parking difficult, so we gave up on it. We finally made it into the one off of 23rd Street.

We purchased 25 donuts altogether selecting almost all the flavors available. Our goal was to try each one, and determine our favorite for future visits. The presentation of the donuts was absolutely amazing. The amount of detail to ensure each one looked very presentable was a task they took serious. As for the taste of the donuts, well they were not as great. The donuts were cooked throughly, and evenly. The part I feel that wasn’t up to par was the toppings. The cereal toppings tasted off of their original flavor. This I chalked up to having maybe baked them? I’m not entirely sure, but they just didn’t taste the same. The strawberry cheesecake donut lacked true flavoring. In my honest opinion it didn’t come close to tasting anything like it. Overall, I give the presentation of the donuts a solid 5 stars. The donut tastes I give a solid 2 stars, as some were good but overall most were lacking.

The appearance of the store was clean, and well maintained. The atmosphere was definitely inviting. The staff was very friendly, and attentive. One issue we did have though. My son who is 6 wanted to do the big mouth challenge. After looking into it, and asking the staff about the details of the challenge we discussed it with him. He stressed that it was a huge donut, and that you had to eat the entire donut in a set amount of time in order to win. He expressed that he understood, and simply wanted to do the challenge for fun. His mother, and I discussed it amongst ourselves. We finally concluded that there was no harm in letting him just for the fun of it. I took him up to the counter, and had him ask to do the challenge. Of course at this time they informed us that they could do the challenge tomorrow if that was ok. I explained to him that it would take some time to get it together, and that we could always come back tomorrow. Unfortunately, something came up resulting in us not making it. The part I had a issue with was, the fact no where did it state they would need a notice. They advertise they are open 25 hours a day, and 8 a days a week. I understand we agreed to come back tomorrow. My question is why was it not advertised that they require a notice before doing the challenge? Was it simply because no one wanted to take the time, and make the donut? Was it because this is the standard, and they just post the notice? I asked myself these questions after deciding to leave, and come back. I probably could of answered some of the questions while I was there, but I had other tasks to do.

Overall it was a nice experience, but it wasn’t what others had hyped it up to be. Maybe, I’ll try the location in Norman another day. Maybe, we will just skip this place in the future, and stick to our normal donut location. I haven’t quite decided. I hope this helps others in making a decision. Maybe, the donuts were just not something all four of us liked. Maybe, this place is something you will enjoy, and have a better...

This was the first time I’ve ever stepped foot into a hurtz donuts, and immediately I got a weird vibe, me and my girlfriend were waiting for the people ahead of us and the lady at the front kept glancing and staring as we waiting our turn. As the line moved up I kept getting weird glares, Keep in mind i’m the only african american in the room so I felt targeted, but I didn’t want to assume so we continued, we get to the front and my girlfriend proceeds to ask questions and she answers them happily, she makes her selection and now it was my turn to pick mine, I said I wanted glazed and a maple bar and she glanced at me, said nothing and then proceeded to put my donuts into the bag. She asked if we were together or separate (making eye contact with my girlfriend) and I say together, she glances at me and then moves to the register, I pull out a $20 and it gets handed to her and she proceeds to try to give the change to my girlfriend, at this point my girlfriend is irritated too because I did nothing to deserve the cold shoulder, she says “this is really weird” & I make a comment saying “you can’t help racist people nowadays” and she looks my girlfriend in the eye and says have a nice day.

Typically, I never deal with situations like this and I’m still in disbelief that this is still even a thing, I was looking through reviews and seen one saying something similar about a woman with white hair being racist to her fiancé, and if it’s the same woman i’m referencing she needs to be fired as soon as possible.

The donuts were good, just couldn’t get the taste of racist out...

If I could give this company a negative result I would. For the last couple times I stopped by they have been OUT of a regular glazed donut. It is always going to take an hour or more to make more... I am sick of this, they have TONS of DEIGNER donuts, that do not seem to sell nearly as much as a traditional glazed... I suggest, if you have a higher selling donut.... MAKE MORE OF THEM!!!! Honestly, they have the best tasting donut around, so the ONLY REASON I am giving such a horrible reading is apparent poor business practices that do not satisfy certain clientele, those wanting traditional glazed donuts... If you change this business practice I will be back, otherwise I guess I will have to go to your competitors Like DayLight Donuts or Krispy Kreme with their always hot and fresh donuts!

update* I have attempted to go back a couple different times since this post, STILL NO Glazed donuts!!! I am DONE. Those other nauseating donuts "this great selection" I am not interested in. I would have been a faithful patron of your store if you would have been consistent of your service and considerate of those who just like plain glazed donuts. MAKE MORE!!!

Frankly too, no one has even bothered to address my concerns from this review which only emphasizes my earlier point which is poor business practice and bad management.

I guess the only places to go for Glazed Donuts are Dunkin Donuts, Daylight Donuts, Best Donuts, Krispy Kreme Donuts. If you are a glazed donut loving individual like I am stay far away from Hurts Donuts, you'll...
